Fox News and Clear Channel radio ink deal...
The radio giant Clear Channel has agreed to a five year deal in which they will use Fox News as their primary news source.

Talk about an unholy alliance. This means a great deal, if not a majority, of American radio listeners will be getting their news from Rupert Murdoch and pals.

And FCC deregulation grows with each year.

3. Scary -- wider distribution of Fox propaganda --
and less opportunity for people to get news that is the slightest bit "fair and balanced."

4. Live on lower Eastern Shore of Maryland
It's Clear Channel as far as the ear can hear. CC owns nine stations within a 25 mile radius. All nine are to receive Fox news. Isn't that swell. I will be touching that dial....

5. Watch Faux News try to use this to further their "we're number 1" BS
They will total up the listeners of Clear Channel stations and that say "150 million Americans made Faux News their first choice..."

It will be like how they tried to promote themselves during their lawsuit against Al Franken.

They were literally laughed out of court. The suit was based on their trademark, "Fair and Balanced." I didn't know if I was being sued for the actual trademark or the irony of the trademark. Now, usually when you say, "literally laughed out of court," you mean "figuratively laughed out of court." Not in this case. The hearing opened with the Fox attorney saying, "The Fox News Channel has over 85 million subscribers." The judge said, "I don't know what that means. I get cable; does that mean that I'm a Fox News Channel subscriber?" The Fox attorney said, "Yes." Wall-to-wall laughter.

Fox Will Become

For Clear Channel

By JOE FLINT
Staff Reporter of THE WALL STREET JOURNAL
December 6, 2004; Page B4

(See Corrections & Amplifications item below0.)

News Corp.'s Fox News has reached an agreement to become the primary news provider to radio giant Clear Channel Communications Inc.

The pact stands to greatly boost the radio presence of Fox News, which rolled out its service last year, as it looks to compete with the much more entrenched CBS Radio, a unit of Viacom Inc., and Walt Disney Co.'s ABC Radio.

Under the terms of the five-year deal, which starts next year, as many as 172 of Clear Channel's news and talk stations could eventually carry Fox's radio service, which includes news updates of up to five minutes per hour and syndicated talk shows by some of its cable news personalities, including Alan Colmes.

The Clear Channel partnership will give Fox News's nascent radio unit close to 300 stations, including 37 in the top 40 markets. There are options in the deal that could increase the number of Clear Channel stations affiliated with Fox News over time. Fox News said that if all options are exercised, its service could have more than 500 affiliates by mid-2005.
