I was flashed by a freeper!
So I'm driving home from Chicago's O'Hare airport in boyfriend's beetle that happens to have a "rainbow" sticker on the back window when a middle age, white male, in a Cadillac no less, pulls up next to me, honks, and holds up a newspaper with the headline "Bush Wins". I didn't react quick enough to flip him the bird because he caught me by surprise and I didn't put two and two together until it was too late. It's not like we had a Kerry sticker on the car or anything so I wasn't used to the traffic incidents that I have heard of around here. Plus I don't drive the car that often but I don't think my boyfriend has ever had a problem before.

What kind of low life asshole carries a frickin newspaper around in his car for a month just so he can flash people? I'm sure he has been flashing people displaying Kerry stickers the last month. That is sick enough as it is but there is something really disturbing about flashing someone because their car is displaying a "rainbow" sticker. I guess this is what we are in for when our "leaders" stir up the homophobes in this country to win an election.

I'm not, by nature, a paranoid person and I'm not a big fan of guns but I do own a handgun (that I inherited) and I keep getting this nagging feeling that maybe I should purchase some ammunition and maybe a rifle or two. I had a good friend killed by a gun in a stupid family squabble so I have a very healthy fear/respect of guns.

Honestly, I never thought I would feel this way since the mid-1990's
when it seemed like things were improving and it became easier to be gay.

Thanks Bush.

10. I don't.
I would imagine that it happened. I think this goes a little beyond gloating. I guess the reverse would have been a Kerry supporter flashing someone with one of those "Jesus Fish" emblems if Kerry had won.

I read more in to it than "our guy won, yours didn't". I read: Ha Ha you ain't getting your "special" rights faggot. But that is just me. Maybe I'm sensitive.

I wonder if he has flashed any paraplegics.

4. It's definitely sad.
But what's sadder is the person who is so damn messed up -- insecurity maybe? -- that he feels the need to carry the paper around and flash people. Don't despair, though I guess that's easier said by me as a straight person who doesn't have to put up with that crap. I really believe (hopefully not too unrealistically) that there is going to be a 60s-like counter-revolution to this homophobic, anti-civil liberties, me-first attitude of today.

It can't come soon enough!

9. I had a '72 Bug
that I thought would look soooooo cuuuuuute with a rainbow sticker in the rear window. Little did I know what the symbol meant at the time. When I found out I thought it was funny that my hetero bad self had driven with it for two years!
I must say it gave me great pleasure to tell my GOP dad a few years later that the cute little rainbow flag on his golf cart was such a "unifying" statement for someone like him. That frigging flag was off the cart before I finished smothering him with the verbal equivalent of the Nobel Peace Prize!
If only that flasher has been there to flash my dad...

11. I feel bad. I asked him to remove it.
Maybe we'll keep it on. I don't know. I'm not so worried about assholes like this guy but I worry more about the dickhead you don't see that wants to use a key on the car or do some harm to my boyfriend when I'm not around. I already had my SUV (that I use for work and volunteer for a meals on wheels type program) keyed so I'm a little sensitive.

12. These people are very insecure....
They acquire 'things' and 'status symbols' like Cadillacs because they have no intrinsic self worth.

They have to have 'stuff' to have value, they do not realize how empty they are.

So here's something I would never suggest you do next time:

Do Not manuever into a position in front of their expensive vehicle.
Do not wait until they are not paying attention, they are talking on the phone, or flashing newspapers at other drivers.
Do not, at that moment lay gently on your brakes enough to make sure he taps you back bumper at roughly a 7 mph discrepancy, causing nice crushing damage to his grille.
Do not pretend to be in pain and ask for an ambulance.
Do not take him to court and sue his ass for causing you to lose work and incur medical costs.

You should not do this because;

A: It will cost him money
B: It will cost him pride (He'll blame you of course - Cadillac drivers ALWAYS blame others for their incompetence.)
C: It would be a community service teaching the jackass a lesson which may make him a better driver.

17. Well I can sort of understand why he would carry around a newspaper for a
month after the election. Honestly, I'm thinking about making an anti bush sign, just a little homemade sign to carry around in my car, so that everytime I see a freeper with a bush sticker, I can flash my sign at them. I get so fucking pissed off when I see a bush/cheney sticker on the road!!!
