Wow. Today is Pearl Harbor Day.
Edited on Tue Dec-07-04 02:42 PM by UdoKier
Haven't seen or heard anything about it on the news (not that I'm watching much.)

Let's hope no more Pearl Harbors, 9-11 'Reichstag Fires', or 'Shock and Awes' happen to anyone else in the world.

2. Haven't heard or seen a word.
How odd.

And "they" beat us over the head imploring us to never forget 9/11.

What happened to Pearl Harbor Day?

3. Well, we did launch an unprovoked preemptive attack...
fairly recently as far as world history is concerned.

5. The day that will live in infamy... Until GWB erased it from the
history books.
We don't want our children to remember such things. There is better tragedies (9/11) now that help us focus on the real enemy.. Iraq and those insurgents that are trying to free their country of a tyrannic ruler (USA).

7. Amazing how soon the patriotic forget.
I wonder how long before on a 9/11 the attacks will not be mentioned.

8. It's on the History Channel and of course it happened 63 years
...ago. I think the next anniversary celebration will come on December 7, 2006 at the 65 year mark.

11. Well, then, clearly you're not out here at Ground Zero
here ya go:

http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2004/Dec/07/ln/ln11p.html

This is as good a time as any to point out that Honolulu itself suffered considerable "collateral damage" at the hands of the Japanese "dumb bombs" (not that our "smart bombs" are much better :( ) At the Arizona Memorial there is a map showing where bombs fell: several in my old neighborhood (not as developed in '41).

Also, U.S. planes were deliberately left vulnerable by being parked wingtip to wingtip. This was supposed to keep them safe from sabotage by people of Japanese descent living on O'ahu, which of course never happened.

Something else that never happened here was the internment of Japanese-Americans; they would have had to build a barbed-wire fence around a third of the island! (All right, there was one small camp on Maui, but none on O'ahu, and nothing on the almost concentration-camp-like scale of heart Mountain, etc.)

12. Reminds Me
Reminds me of that Whitney Houston song, "I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU". She should sing it as a triubute to all those souls who lost their lives.

Someone look up the lyrics
