7. Ah, much more than just a musician. Artist, poet, peace activist, and |
|
essentially a spiritual leader of a generation. Yes, much more than just a musician.

11. Every once in a while |
|
someone comes along that helps the world feel like a better place. John was one of them. If you weren't alive back then, it is hard to comprehend the way John Lennon and the Beatles changed not only the musical landscape, but also helped lift a veil from the eyes of a whole generation who began to see a different veiw than their parents. Those of us that grew up during that time and were a part of that 'scene" will always feel the loss of John Lennon. And that's just the way it is.

14. He could be a bastard, but he was one talented bastard |
|
who learned and grew, and at age 40 still had SO much to contribute.
My fingers are shaking as I type this; it still pisses me off that he's gone, sometimes.

20. I was alive, and an adult then. He is adored because he died young-- |
|
The "died young syndrome" puts people on another level.
If he had lived and was just another aging, grandfatherly rock star there would be no moments of silence commemorating his passing.
The same thing happened to James Dean and Marilyn Monroe--overrated because they died young.

25. John Lennon was on another level |
|
As was Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison. At least they don't have to put up with the shrub and his ilk where they are. Throw in Buddy Holly and Janice Joplin and that's one heck of a band. If you feel differently, well, you are entitled to your own opinion.

Imagine
Imagine there's no heaven, It's easy if you try, No hell below us, Above us only sky, Imagine all the people living for today...
Imagine there's no countries, It isnt hard to do, Nothing to kill or die for, No religion too, Imagine all the people living life in peace...
Imagine no possesions, I wonder if you can, No need for greed or hunger, A brotherhood of man, Imagine all the people Sharing all the world...
You may say Im a dreamer, but Im not the only one, I hope some day you'll join us, And the world will live as one.

22. Because they killed him, too. |
|
Mark David Chapman, another MK-ULTRA patsy, sent to kill one who might lead a protest.
BTW--I just read that Cheney never openly campaigned for president due to the fact that he had played a role in MK-ULTRA and too many people knew it.

how could that be. i remember taking 12/9/1980 off work and just sitting in the park and crying. reagan had just been elected, lennon was assassinated, and an ex-boyfriend committed suicide - all that fall. rest in peace, john.

13. Wow. Really? Haven't played them since? |
|
too painful to listen too? sorry about that.
I love to listen to them now, especially that my 4-year-old daughter adores them. But she knows that two of them are no longer with us. And some day, she's going to ask just how they died (or find out).
That's not going to be a good day for me.
