Well gang, the election is over and there remains much work to do. "The Guy James Show" has been growing and growing each and every month since its start exactly two years ago this week.

We've endeavored to bring you the best and most interesting guests and provide a radio home for your rants and concerns. Our audience has grown to where we are a force in the Liberal Radio world.

As you know the show is funded with donations from listeners and concerned Liberal Democrats. We've never had advertising because our show originates from one of the most Conservative areas in the country, Ft. Myers-Naples area Florida. We know we made an impact on the election this year because our local Democratic voter percentage increase was among the highest in the nation and we are very proud of that.

Its time to sign a new contract with Meridian Broadcasting. They want to move us to a new station which won't affect the INTERNET audience but WILL quadruple our local audience because their WINK-WNOG stations (we'll be on both of them) are the big dogs in SW Florida.

We cannot proceed without a big financial commitment from us and our listeners. As has been the case for the past two years, I am willing to continue funding half of the cost of the program. Which, by the way is many thousands of dollars per year. I need the audience to fund the remaining half. Are you willing? Do you see the value in continuing the program? Do you want to help us in our quest to bring more and better Liberal programming to the 50% of Americans who have been neglected by the media?

I hope you will consider helping us keep the program on the air. We have one week to come up with the necessary funds needed to begin the new 1 year contract. We need several thousand dollars for that along with my own contribution.

Just looked at something, you know WPTK is a 10kw (day) 1kw (nite) station with a fairly impressive footprint. After looking at the coverage maps for the other two combined, i'm a bit perplexted about your reasoning, unless you are just unhappy with the current facilities.
Now combined night time coverage for the two stations (WINK-WNOG) would be better, but quite frankly day parts don't look that inviting.
WPTK is the strongest single station in the market (AM) at 10kw/1kw
However whatever you decide I'll support your actions!
You may also want to consider staying with WPTK and entering another market such as Tampa/St.Pete on a small local station such as WTAN 1340 in Clearwater. Just a suggestion.

6. Actually its the same facility

There are 7 stations in the building but I currently use the same studio as WINK-WNOG. I don't know where you saw your "footprint" maps but they are in error. The coverage for WINK-WNOG is far superior to WPTK. WNOG covers all of Collier county and WINK covers all of Lee county along with Charlotte, Hendry and even farther north. At the moment (10pm eastern time) I can listen to WINK from my home but WPTK is barely audible. I live halfway in between Naples and Ft. Myers. WNOG out of Naples covers all of Marco Island and the entire Naples area.

Please let me know where you saw the "footprint" maps. The newest ratings just came out and WINK-WNOG has quadruple the listeners of WPTK.

people are tapped out from campaign donations AND it's the holiday ("Spend like a Patriot!") season on top of it.

for increasing the voter percentage of Dems in your area, then you obviously have a market for your show. Therefore, shouldn't you be able to rake in some advertising?

I doubt a business owner is gonna care too much that your show is Democratic. Hell, I helped with a small liberal in an area of "Republican darkness" for two years and had little trouble getting advertisers.

22. You can doubt all you want but....

We've had two Democratic business owners quit our show in the past year because of getting threatening phone calls and letters. We've had many and I do mean many Democratic business owners donate to the show but did not want their names mentioned for fear of reprisals. I don't think you have a clear idea of the situation here.
