Please!!! I feel I must say this if nothing else but to clear my conscious
Edited on Thu Dec-09-04 12:06 AM by Nikepallas
but I really do care.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you are planning to go to D.C. Jan 20th be careful!

My friend gave me this info on the QT and he was given this info by his father-in-law. They are going to be prepared for ANY TYPE of deminstrations.

Certain people --law enforcement of various types have been given permission to take down all types of deminstration. The media will be given STRICT orders where they can film and what they can film.

This is what I been told so I passed it on without telling who told me.

1. Wouldn't be surprised
We have known for a long time that the only film that gets out is administration approved. We saw that in F9/11. I certainly didn't see the egging of *'s limo on TV.

However, if *'s army kills civilians or injures them the media will somehow report it. I think the more of us that go, the better. There is no way that in the event * get's inaugurated, it should not be protested by millions, if possible.

Are you saying that dems should be cowards? Have we learned nothing from our founders. Sometimes, you have to stand and be counted. Both of my direct ancestors (great great grandfathers) shed blood for this country in the Revolutionary War. They stood and were counted. My family has fought for this country over and over again. I hope my courage never falters in defense of our country and our Constitution.

6. Bring cellphones with cameras
Bring cellphones with cameras, take lots of pictures and send them off to family, friends and media immediately. So of it's taken away from you or broken, the pictures will already have gotten out.

5. Film from other points of view.
Sorry if this sounds cloak and dagger, but filming should probably be a high priority here. Any who can should have areas picked out along the route. Such as your accomodations local. your own room with a view. If you have access to office spaces film from those.

7. Of course the media won't show it, but there's still hope.
After all:

When we fought the Revolutionary war, we didn't have CBS, but we had Thomas Paine and Benjamin Franklin.

When we started demanding the abolition of slavery, we didn't have CNN, but we had Fredrick Douglass and Harriet Beecher Stowe.

When we demanded the right for women to vote, we didn't have Clear Channel, but we had Susan B. Anthony and Alice Paul.

Television media is a valuable tool, but if it chooses to work against us, we can do without it. For over a hundred years, concerned Americans chose to BE the media, and we can do the same thing today.

Speak truth to power and you will always win, even if you don't live to see the results.

10. we're living in a different world, folks . . .
BushCo wouldn't hesitate to arrest and detain every single demonstrator, for an indefinite period and without any kind of acknowledgement or notification . . . they'll use those rolls of poly fencing and just wrap people up a hundred or two at a time, and then funnel them into the buses or semis or boxcars or whatever they'll use to transport them . . . I can see the local football stadium becoming one massive detention center housing thousands upon thousands . . . these people have no consideration for civil rights or civil liberties and feel that their "mandate" gives them the power and the prerogative to do exactly as they damn well please . . .

so indeed . . . let's be careful out there . . .

11. IMO anyone going to Washington DC should be prepared to die
I've been thinking for some time that at least a few protesters will be killed. We already know what they did to peaceful demonstrators during the campaign; they'll be far worse now that they feel they've got unchecked power.

On the other hand the person relaying this information to us should relay back to his or her source that law enforcement, too, should think carefully before they act. Sooner or later, they will have to answer for any crimes they commit against the citizens of this nation. Every fascist state has eventually fallen, and most within a couple of decades. What they might be rewarded for in January 2005 is just as likely to get them charged with a capital offense in 2020. "Just following orders" has never been a defense in these situations -- only faithfully following the Constitution, and respecting its protection of the right of the people to assemble, will be a shield to them. And feel free to let them know this warning is coming from a lifelong Republican and student of history, someone who still has old friends on the Republican side of the aisle in Congress, and not some "hippy traitor librul Democrat". We do still value our Constitution, all of us, out here in the rest of America, and we and the rest of the world will be watching closely their every move. They should not think for a moment that controlling American mainstream media, something a majority of Americans now say they don't trust or believe, will make them safe.

If I wasn't a wheelchair user who needs the help of an attendant even to go across the street to the convenience store, I'd be there in January, prepared to follow in the footsteps of Crispus Attucks if that's what my country needs from me. Instead I'm doing what I can do from home, working the telephone and e-mail to organize a broad based pro-democracy organization in my town. Meager as it is, this, too, might some day get me arrested or killed. We all have to realize that there aren't any safe forms of political expression in America right now. And, once we wrap our heads around that grim fact and resign ourselves to whatever our fate may be, we have to fight passionately and fearlessly for our nation and our communities and families, as only those who have given up all hope for themselves can do.

13. I'd go through the new
Homeland Security 9/11 bill they just passed and see what has been stuck in there that could be used against dessention. Such as wording that relates dessention with abetting terrorists. May end up in detention camps or just "disappeared":scared:

Camcorder in hand. Maybe a gas mask or two as well. If this turnout is as big as is expected, they won't be able to take us all down.
