Any comments on my slideshow? (re: *'s military uniform)
I've made a Powerpoint presentation about the Chimp's new clothes.

Download here

All comments/suggestions welcome!

In the slideshow I've borrowed a few phrases from the public blog of a DU member. As of now, he didn't respond yet to my question for permission to use it. I hope I'm not violating some code of conduct by publishing the slideshow anyway. In any case, it doesn't violate the DU 4 paragraph rule and I give him due credit.

1. Some Presidents like Clinton do wear

jackets of the units they are visiting. But you will notice no SS around him.

2. You will also notice that clinton's jacket is named for the ship he is on

USS Ironside, I think.

Anyways, it was probably a GIFT from the head brass on the ship. Which is entirely different than having the court tailor show up at the castle with golden threads and fabrics and measuring tapes to create 'a uniform'.

Clinton is simply wearing one of the ship's wind breakers. big difference.

First Armored Division of the US Army out of Fort Knox. From the foreign soldiers present, it looks like that picture was probably taken in Bosnia.

Old Ironsides is also the nickname for the USS Constitution. The last time that ship was used for anything but a training vessel or museum was around the 1850's so I doubt even Reagan was aboard it while overseas.

p.s. The Russian Special Forces guy in the lower right looks a little like Putin's love child.

4. Ummmm No
The patch is not for the USS Constitution aka Old Ironsides. the ship is nearly permanently docked in Boston Harbor. I think it's for an US Army Armored Division. It would appear that Clinton is somewhere in Europe, visiting with the troops involved in one of the peacekeeping operations. Note the soldier near the front of the picture with a non US Army uniform wearing a patch with Cyrillic and "English" letters on it.

5. Amen on that
What pisses people off on the Chimp is that everything is carefully crafted spin.

Clinton might have had some draft avoidance issues too but AFAIK he never lied about it. And he certainly didn't proclaim himself a to be a war president.

Bush - a Connecticut native - bought a ranch in Crawford, TX just before the 2000 campaign, but NO it's *Kerry* who's the carpetbagger!

Pointing out minor inconsistencies with others in the face of this Orwellian spin machine is effectively helping Rove & co to establish a warped perception of reality.

7. I'd never heard Kerry referred to as a ....
... carpetbagger. Hillary, yes.

Maybe I was asleep during that month of the campaign.

9. or maybe I was asleep ... :)
After Googling a bit, and disregarding freeper rants, I mainly find references to a '70s smear campaign.

Here

"Day after day, they…printed full-page editorials that were treated like hard news about John Kerry in Vietnam, John Kerry the carpetbagger, John Kerry the radical, John Kerry being arrested," says David Thorne, Kerry's closest friend and former brother-in-law. Perceived as a carpetbagger who tried to exploit anti-war sentiment for his own political gain, Kerry was rejected by voters in Massachusetts' fifth district.

Or here

That lone-wolf manner was especially evident in his struggle to build a political base in Massachusetts. In 1972, during his failed bid for Congress, the patrician Kerry was greeted as an alien political life form in the white ethnic factory towns of Lowell and Lawrence. Already plagued with the "carpetbagger" label for moving through two other congressional districts before settling on this one, Kerry was soundly defeated after the flamboyant editor of the Lowell Sun tarred him as an outsider and "radical leftist war agitator."

Not that Kerry didn't fall victim to smear campaigns in 2004 though ...
