1. Commander in chief
Guess he needs that on there to remind everyone who's the boss. Moron. Brown shirt indeed!

2. I'm really sick of this "dictator jacket" stuff
That is a Marine Corps tanker jacket that he is wearing. Yes, he may be a dictator WEARING the jacket, but to call the jacket itself a "dictator jacket" sullies generations of Marines who have worn it before him. It is bad enough that he looks like shit wearing it, has completely defaced it and insults the Marines in so doing. However, we don't have to insult those who also wear it who have no control over what * wears.

Just my $0.02.

5. He is not a marine, he does not have any right to wear a military uniform
And he certainly shouldn't be wearing one that says "commander in chief" on it, not with his record of failure.

I say, if Bush wants to play up the Commander in Chief role, then fine. Why not start by taking responsiblity for the poor planning, the lack of exit strategy, the failure to capture bin Laden, Abu Gharib (sp?), or the lack of basics like armor and weapons?

8. Exactly
No reason to be calling it a "dictator jacket" however.

6. it's not an attack on the jacket per se, it's the whole wearing the
uniform business. Seems something that Saddam or some other dictator would do. I sure don't remember seeing any other president in uniform like that.

7. Do all Marine Corps tanker jackets
have the presidential seal, with "Commander-In-Chief George W. Bush" embroidered on them?

10. Obviously not

Did you read my post?

on edit: If you look closely, the seal is actually a Marine Corps Emblem (Eagle, Globe, and Anchor) encircled by "United States Marine Corps"

11. I'm sorry, Columbia, but you are wrong. What he is wearing is not a
Marine Corps tanker jacket. And even if it was, he's not a marine and therefore should not be wearing a jacket reserved for marines. In addition to that it says

George W. Bush
Commander in Chief

on it. With little patches of offical federal emblems remenicent of the way dicators wear various ribbions and honorary rewards.

It's a dictator jacket. It's a dictator jacket. It's a dictator jacket. It's a dictator jacket. It's a dictator jacket. It's a dictator jacket. It's a dictator jacket. It's a dictator jacket.

13. Whether he should be wearing it or not is not the point
And it IS a Marine tanker jacket.

http://marineshop.safeshopper.com/23/744.htm?485

I've already said it is shameless that it has been defaced, however, calling it a "dictator jacket" is shameless as well.

And I think we can do without your little childish taunts.

It also has the presidential seal on it. Seems to me they are very different jackets.

16. It's the same, picture brightness level is different
Edited on Thu Dec-09-04 01:28 PM by Columbia
It's the same jacket plus two patches (Marine Corps seal and US flag) and custom embroidery (GWB CINC).

"Bush, wearing a tanker jacket with a United States Marine Corps emblem on the right side and a Commander-In-Chief stitched on the left, thanked U.S. forces for making the sacrifices needed to make America safer."

19. We aren't insulting the Marines, just the guy who has co-opted the jacket
when he is completely unworthy of it.

Why not try something with epaulets in crimson, with black lettering. Much more your kind of thing. Suave.

22. Someone should make a parody jacket from that
Edited on Thu Dec-09-04 02:13 PM by da_chimperor
'Asshole in Chief' replacing 'Commander in Chief', make the US flag upside down, and replace the presidential seal with the parody one I've seen floating around on the net with a vulture on it instead of an eagle. It's a hell of a lot harder than getting a t-shirt made, but I'd buy one.

Edit: Here's the seal courtesy of whitehouse.org

Damn, I love these guys.
