I admit - I am in stubborn DENIAL
I have read several articles, here on DU and other sites about why democrats lost the election of 2004. I read a variety of reasons, a variety of strategies to "win" in 2006...rethinking Dem morality, rethinking the Democratic message...reaching out or moving to the right.....countless complaints about the DLC, DNC, Kerry's campaign, Edwards lack of making inroads....blah, blah, blah.

I AM IN DENIAL! I refuse to believe that there is any other reason than fraud and a stolen election, PERIOD.

In order to think that democrats lost fair and square, you also have to believe that the exit polls were totally wrong JUST FOR THE PRESIDENTIAL RESULTS AND ALL THE OTHER ELECTION RESULTS WERE FINE/ WITHIN ACCEPTABLE MARGINS OF ERROR.

You would have to believe that ALL THOSE GLITCHES IN ELECTRONIC VOTING THAT ALL WENT IN FAVOR OF GEORGE W BUSH AND NOT A SINGLE ONE THAT WENT TO KERRY, were just coincidental.

You would have to believe that the rule of thumb that a president with less that 50 PERCENT JOB APPROVAL just PRIOR TO ELECTION COULD SOMEHOW MORPH INTO GARNERING 51 PERCENT OF THE ELECTION - EVEN THOUGH IT HAS NEVER HAPPENED EVER BEFORE.

You would have to believe that a president really CAN lose ALL THREE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES AND STILL GO ON TO BE GAIN THE POPULARITY VOTE.

You would have to believe that going to war with questionable justifications, the ABU GHRAIB scandal, the Halliburton contract scandal, the final report indicating there were NO WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION, had absolutely no effect on the electorate's confidence in their commander-in-chief...in fact, it worked the just the opposite as Bush GAINED votes.

And finally - it is just too perfect isn't it? Bush got everything he needed/wanted...even though America is in recession, jobs are being outsourced, America is at war and not winning it...even for a myriad of negative things that occured under Bush watch, he gained a majority in the Congress and Senate and 51 - (just too perfect) 51 percent of the vote.

WELL I DON'T BELIEVE IT. Call me crazy, but there are just too many things that are not within acceptable parameters of logic.

2. I swimming right along beside you.
I STILL think Kerry was a far better candidate than Gore (and even though I respected Gore a lot, he never motivated me like Kerry did) -- and after the Clinton administration people were very ready for a change, AND Bush didn't have any record to make him look bad. AND GORE STILL WON.

Kerry was a war hero. He handled himself beautifully in the debates. Not perfect, no -- but who is?? He was closer to perfect than anyone in a LOOONG time.

And since there is so little oversight of election procedures and voting machines, fraud is practically a cinch -- especially when the people who make the machines are on your side.

There's NO WAY Bush won -- by three million votes? No way.

I deny it!

3. I voted 3rd party...
...but I'm pretty damn sure the election was rigged.

What's sad is that they didn't even do a good job about being subtle about it. The discrepancies were GLARING.

Yet, too many people are unaware of this.

I'll keep posting flyers, though. The message has got to get out.

My sentiments exactly. Remember what Yogi Berra said -- it aint' over till its over.
History will judge the two Bush administrations as corrupt, illegitimate, and having inflicted great harm on this country.

6. AND ANOTHER THING
You would have to reject the age old rule that LARGE turnouts in voters favor democrats...even though that rule has been verified time and time before.

We saw long long lineups well before the polling stations were even open. So here these people are - standing in the RAIN FOR HOURS, to vote Bush and then LIE ABOUT IT - re exit polls. You would have to beleive this scenario is logical because that is what they are trying to force down our throats.

I DENY IT. IT IS A LIE.

And while I understand the talk about the future of the democratic party, and what went wrong/why we lost - to state as such is to deny fraud and the blatent wrongdoing of the 2004 election.

8. Count me in
I think I am starting to come to terms with the fact that the "results" of the "election" aren't actually going to change, but I will never, EVER believe we didn't win.

Until yesterday I had saved a bunch of photos from Kerry's campaign stops showing thousands of people sometimes in the middle of the night out there to show their support. This information was never reported by the MSM (or downplayed as much as possible if it was). I had saved them because I believed that we would need "proof" of the support he had when the election was stolen. I think I gave up yesterday. We will not win this argument no matter what our proof so, while I will never concede the win, I have given up hope that anything will change.

I'm having a brain fade at the moment and can't remember who said it, but I quoted a black box believer to my husband a week before the election as saying "Kerry will win the election, but Shrub will be inaugurated." No truer, more prophetic words were ever spoke.

12. it is a distraction
Edited on Thu Dec-09-04 04:41 PM by m berst
The argument over whether the election was stolen or not is a distraction.

It isn't that they stole the election that is important. They stole the election in order to steal the government. But it isn't about stealing the government, either. They are stealing the government because they plan to use it. Even that isn't the main worry, as alarming as it is. It is what they plan on using the government to do that we should be worried about. But even that doesn't fully illustrate the depth of the denial of reality people are expressing. You will not be able to escape the consequences of what they are going to use our government to do.

So you can say that they didn't steal the election, but that doesn't mean they aren't stealing the government. You can say that they aren't stealing the government, but that doesn't change what they are doing with the government. You can say that they aren't going to do anything too bad with the government, but that won't help the people who are being killed and imprisoned. You can say that people being killed and imprisoned is not something to take a stand against, but that won't help you when they come for you.

So pick your level of denial, but don't try to argue that it makes any difference in what is going to happen, and don't dress it up as anything more than a need to feel better emotionally.

14. Then you would like this information......
Our movement to deny a fraudlently secured electoral college victory to
George W. Bush and our efforts to expose deception in the vote casting and
counting on election day are gaining tremendous momentum:

1. Among the briefest statements of our case is my editorial in today's
Baltimore Sun entitled Silencing the Vote
http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/opinion/oped/bal-op.election09dec09,0,3131082.story?coll=bal-oped-headlines
If you want a slightly more complete and footnoted version please go to
http://www.redefeatbush.com/downloads/silencingthevote.pdf

2. Please join us Saturday 12/11 in LaFayette Park in front of the White
House on Saturday 12/11 at noon to hear from Wayne Madsen, Asa Gordon, Jeff
Fisher and others. For more on our activities see
http://www.redefeatbush.com or the one page summary at
http://www.patrioticoutrage.org If you are not near DC please use
http://www.51capitalmarch.com to find the protest nearest you.

3. Please join us on Thursday 1/6 in Upper Senate Park adjacent to the U.S.
Capitol to honor the brave Members of the House and Senate who will rise to
challenge the legitimacy of the electoral votes submitted for Ohio,
Florida, Indiana and North Carolina. Cheer them as they exit the Capitol
and address our rally.

4. Please join us on Thursday 1/20 for the counterinaugural in
Washington. We expect to have stages set up to the north of the official
parade route (Farragut Park, MacPherson Park, Franklin Square, Lower Senate
Park on Capitol Hill) as well as south of the route (the Jefferson
Memorial, the FDR Memorial). Surround the clown.

5. Please join us for the world's first Counterinaugural Ball that evening
beginning with dinner and open bar for 5,000 people at Dream, a nightclub
in Washington. At that event we will reveal the bold new identity that
ReDefeatBush is taking on along with its aggressive new mission, and show
highlights of what happened that day in Washington, captured by our team of
volunteer videographers. Tickets will go on sale soon at
http://www.counterinauguralball.org

6. Please contribute at http://www.redefeatbush.com/donate to help
underwrite the costs of these activities and so that we may collect
affidavits from voters for the first lawsuit ever brought under the 14th
Amendment, passed in 1868. It sets out specific penalties for vote
suppression, calling for representation in Congress to be reduced in
proportion to the number of citizens whose ability to vote in an election
for president is "in any way abridged." We believe we can reduce the
Congressional delegations of several states by this means, and the penalty
may be invoked in subsequent elections as well, so if Ohio, Florida and
other habitual vote suppressing states continue to botch their elections
they will see their representation in Congress reduced each time they do so.

7. Please purchase your Bush Cheated 04 buttons and bumper stickers at
http://www.redefeatbush.com/store. Bumper stickers are there now, buttons
coming soon.

The young, it is said, do not know enough to be prudent. Therefore, they
attempt the impossible and achieve it, generation after generation...
