my woman child
was called a "savage" and "unpatriotic" by her science teacher today for standing up against this war. he actually attacked her indian heritage, told her to tear up her per capita checks if she did not support *.
she is irate and so fucking beautiful right now and i am so proud of her. she spoke of the depleted uranium, the innocent civilians, the dead and wounded kids in the military.
his defense was somehow that we needed the oil for our lifestyles to prevail, that they were responsible for 911.
savage indeed! she attacked him for invading her country and destroying everything sacred to her people.
she is 17, will graduate in january, and needs this credit to do so, but she says FUCK HIM and the skanky ship that dragged his ass over here.
she may have inherited my passion for truth. YEAH!

"Savage," "unpatriotic"? That crosses the line. What message does that send the other students in the class?
At least 50% of Americans oppose this war. You know many of the students in that class have parents who know the war is a huge mistake.

Many, many more lost years than just 200. Who knows what we all have lost for our European ancestors, (the "Pilgrims"), arrogance, greed and hubris, let alone flat out ignorance. Please accept my personal apologies.

I have a great deal of faith in younger people these days -- they're far more spiritual and less materialistic than the adults walking around right now. They're like the '60s generation reborn, and considering the chaos they're living through right now, it's inspiring to think of what they'll do when they hold the reigns of power.

16. You have done a good job
and you should be proud, as well as your daughter.

By what right does a teacher have to call a student a "savage"? And by what right does a teacher have to call a student "unpatriotic"?

There is a mind set in this country that has turned fascist and it seems to have filtered down into the school system, according to the reports I read.

If this is true, the seventeen year old kids that resist now, with all knowledge and passion, will be what the hopes of returning to the America we once knew, will be hinged upon.

It will take a long time--unfortuneately, but I think it will take some years for the tide to turn. What form it will take, is not exactly clear to me.

22. Oh.My.God ..... Kudos to you and to Your Woman Child
I hope she is as proud of you as you are obviously so proud of her ... and somehow I know she is.

As for that "savage" remark, were I you, and I am not and I don't know your situation, I would sue for some sort of discrimination or hate crime. You describe it that his remarks were not racist. Perhaps they weren't. But on paper (or on "monitor" in this case) the word jumped off the page as blatantly racist. Teachers who spew in schools need to be vetted and removed.

My stepdaughter had a similar incident, but without the racist aspect. She went to town with her history teacher. It was a debate of ideas that lasted for days and she didn't back down. In the end, her grades never suffered, but why does this have to happen? Its okay to discuss *both* sides of an issue, but not actually *advocate* for one side while in an environment where learning is the goal.

Sorry, don't fly.

By the way, does he also teach about a 6,000 year old flat earth and other such crap?

23. She needs to take in some pictures of maimed Iraqi babies
and prisoners being tortured at the US held Abu Ghraib.

Put them on a poster with the word "Savage" printed in bold letters next to its definition.

Do the same with some photos of protesters having their rights ignored, and some more of the abused detainees. "Unpatriotic" is the word that should grace this poster.

She can sweetly ask the teacher to allow her to display her artwork in his classroom since he is so interested in the words "savage" and "unpatriotic."

Your daughter's teacher invaded her country, apparently by sea ? He used depleted Uranium munitions and came for the oil ? He apparently used the 9/11 terror attacks as an excuse for the attack. Based on that info I would guess that your daughter is an Iraqi, not an Indian.

40. Well, I'll tell you what...
...this story simply must be told. It's not only outrageous on it's face, there are also potential Civil Rights violations involved with the abusive language (i.e., the "savage" remark) in a taxpayer-supported institution.
Feel free to PM me with the details, and by this very afternoon I will be happy to start contacting several of the Native American Organizations I am familiar with, and we'll get this ball rolling. Or, if you prefer, I'll contact them and ask that they get with you directly. I'll round up the pertinent e-mail addys and you can relay your story straight to them. No student anywhere should be subject to such treatment, and I fully intend to see to it that it stops, and that those responsible for it are sanctioned. The media will be all over it, as they should be, and this kind of behavior will Cease & Desist.
Damn, this story makes me :grr: I'll be directing others who might be interested in taking on this story to this thread throughout the day, thanks.

41. Kicking for research...
... :kick:

Am going to keep this kicked as I research what government agencies need to be notified about this infuriating incident - this story really tells a tale that is beyond the realm of simple private agency, and needs to go to the Feds for Civil Rights violations.
Once appropriate research is done, I'll update. We'll need written verification, too, to send on to them: names, dates, places, signed complaints, and sworn affidavits. Please gather this, knowbody0, and we'll put an end to this racist nonsense you reported your daughter went through in a public (absolutely outrageous!) school. If we get all our "ducks" lined up, a genuine difference can be made. Let's Go!

43. Absolutely right...
...which is exactly why I'm currently researching this for soon-to-be-taken action, via both the involvement of the Feds and every Native American Organization I know, as well as the press.
Outrageous racist statement/s have apparently been uttered and directed toward a student in a public school; taxpayer dollars are, according to the account, involved; and Civil Rights issues have come into play. This kind of thing is simply intolerable, and I intend to pursue it as long as it takes to get to the truth, whatever that happens to be.

I support her and send her my energy to fight the good fight. Let's take the battle to them. She can defeat this unAmerican asshole with her intelligence and inner strength. Let's show this bastard, in full view of the public, that he is a decendent of murderers, rapists, and imperialist cannibals, and that HE is the "savage."

Maybe she can bring books, articles, movies to school and show others what this teacher represents. He has NO BUSINESS teaching children. With enough pressure, this bastard could lose his job... which would be a GOOD thing. He should spend his remaining days cleaning toilets and picking up the garbage his "people" create.

Here's one article telling of how he and his decendents continue to destroy the Humans.

Fraud in New Mexico
By Scott Patterson
December 3, 2004

An investigation by SmartMoney.com has found that officials in the Bush administration had detailed knowledge of fraudulent practices that allowed energy companies to cheat impoverished Native American Indians out of vast sums over dozens of years. These officials were aware that employees of the federal government were helping oil and gas companies underpay to operate on Indian lands in the state of New Mexico — and did nothing to stop it. This is the first in a two-part series.

ON A FRIDAY AFTERNOON IN August, Air Force One ascended above the town of Farmington, N.M. Enthusiastic supporters of the president fanned out of Rickets Park in the center of town waving Bush-Cheney placards. The police cars and motorcycles blocking the streets from traffic during George W. Bush's brief visit switched off their lights and drove away. Normalcy returned to Farmington.

For Ervin Chavez, president of the Shii Shi Keyah Allottee Association (shii shi keyah is Navajo for "this is my land"), normalcy means another day fighting against the federal government and big industry for Native American rights. In his darker moods, he despairs that it's a fight he'll never win.

"You think it would get better someday, and it only gets worse," Chavez says from behind his gold square-framed glasses in a near-empty Farmington restaurant a few hours after the president's plane had taken off.

55. I'm going to keep "kicking" on this...
...issue tirelessly. Someone is going to be held to account for the details of this story, one way or another.

54. Yet another....
... :kick: for the morning crowd. Help spread the story of this outrage around, as research is done to help bring it to the attention of the people who should know and can do something about it!

58. "...we needed the oil for our lifestyles to prevail"
I believe this is what supporters of this war REALLY feel and why they are so willing to ignore any crimes or deaths resulting from the endeavor.

62. What a strong wonderful person!
I truly hope and pray that people like your daughter fill this country to bursting. We need so many like her! Love and light to her and to you!
As for her teacher... He's the "savage". Maybe he ought to study a little history on how he came to be in this land. Disgusting remark, and a teacher no less. :grr:

63. thankyou all
for the love and support you sent my wee womanchild. as she read the posts, i saw defiant warrior woman with raining eyes. i saw crazy horse before battle. sweet grass and sage, then out the door, all the grandmothers beneath her feet, her heart filled with your kind words.
