A couple of excellent (and short!) letters to the editor
Both are from Friday's Journal Inquirer out of Manchester, CT:

1. MARRIAGE IS ABOUT LOVE, NOT STATUS

Marriage is for people in love. It is not a status for a privileged class. Marriage is for people of faith -- a sacrament and, for all, legally binding.

Historically, there have been saints living in committed same-sex relationships and understood in its proper context, the Scriptures are same0sex friendly for those who are constitutionally same-sex oriented.

There is an assumption made: That those of us who are supportive of same-sex marriage, have traded spirituality for sexuality. This is untrue.

--Rev. Mickey Danyluk

2. MOVING DOWN A SLIPPERY SLOPE

In 1871, the German Reich adopted Paragraph 175, a law criminalizing homosexual sex. By 1945, the Nazis persecuted tend of thousands of German homosexuals. Homosexuals were placed in concentration camps, tortured, mutilated, and executed because of their sexual orientation.

On November 2, 2004, 11 of 11 states passed bans against same-sex marriage. Today conservatives in the United States warn of the slippery slope that same-sex marriage will initiate.

I'm more concerned about the slippery slope of anti-homosexual legislation that bans marriage. Where will it end?

--Peterson Toscan
