Are civilian H2s made at the same plants as the...
Humvees that the military uses? I think that most h2 drivers will never give a hoot about environmental issues, but some could be shamed into not buying one of those wasteful, wretched things with this issue. Thanks!

1. I don't think so
H2 is built on a different frame than the Humvee.

3. H2s are not real Hummers, they are based on a civilian "platform"
The H2 is based on the GMT820 platform, the very same platform that provides the underpinnings for the Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Avalanche and all of GM’s other full-size trucks.

4. They're Built at Adjacent Plants
Edited on Sat Dec-11-04 09:36 AM by Sporadicus
'The 550,000 plus square-foot main facility in Mishawaka, Indiana, is adjacent to AM General's HUMMER H2® Assembly Plant. In this plant, the world's best performance four- wheel-drive vehicle is assembled with the utmost attention to detail.

Fully-assembled military HMMWV's and the commercial H1 driveable chassis are both assembled in the main facility and utilize the same manufacturing processes. These vehicles are produced in an environment utilizing "lean manufacturing" principles and techniques. The manufacturing focus is on people systems and practices, rigid military standards that assure built-in quality, customer responsiveness, cost containment, and employee safety as an overriding priority.

The HMMWV and HUMMER H1 assembly facilities include a second plant of approximately 75,000 square feet utilizing craftsman style operations for finish trimming interior and exterior, painting, and final assembly. It is in this plant that the HUMMER H1 takes on attributes to become a civilized version of the very durable and reliable military HMMWV.

In addition to the manufacturing facilities, the HMMWV and HUMMER H1 operations include an on-site vehicle test track and evaluation area. All vehicles produced go through a rigorous test track evaluation to assure that each vehicle produced meets high standards of quality and performance.'

5. Thanks...
so it is fair to say that it may have an effect on the production. Maybe not much, but some.
