Not all Christians are on the Right. Here is one that is on the Left
The pastor of this church is Jan Linn. He had written two books: "How to Be an Open-Minded Christian Without Losing Your Faith" and "Rocking the Church Membership Boat." His latest is "What's Wrong with the Christian Right". He contends that it is a very small minority that is on the right.

Seeker's diary: Spirit of Joy Christian Church, Lakeville
Amy Gage

Published December 6, 2003

At first glance, Spirit of Joy appears a humble country church: friendly people, simple sanctuary, freshly baked cookies in the entryway. A church where it's easy to slap on a smile, sit toward the back and remain anonymous.

Turns out, it's a more challenging, engaging place, both in theology and personality.

Affiliated with the Disciples of Christ denomination, Spirit of Joy -- between a farm field and a SuperAmerica in Lakeville -- urges people to interpret the Bible themselves and to maintain an open heart and mind on sensitive social issues such as racism and gay marriage. The church asks worshipers in this prosperous, growing suburb not to "romanticize" Christmas but to celebrate the birth of Jesus by examining the world in which he was born and raised.

1.  I'm a Christian who's never left the left...
not even for a moment. I would say Jesus was a pretty liberal guy and it's about time these Bible beating evangelicals and fundamentalists get a clue. I live in a red state and it ticks me off that I can't find a church w/ a minister who values Jesus as a liberal and preaches the message that Christ was persecuted by both his religion and his government and His message to us through the Bible is to question both and find faith and peace in yourselves and each other through good deeds and mercy.

From Where I Stand

Excerpt -

The new low in smear politics emerges from the fact that the repetition of an idea by the major communication systems in the country seems to be enough to give it currency, certainty, reality in the general population. Now planting the possibility of wrongdoing has become almost as important in this country as proving it.

7. Some books...
Bishop Spong has written a number of books, all of which are supposed to be good.

In addition, Marcus Borg has written several books which offer an easy-to-read theologically liberal perspective on Christianity. Also there is The Good Book by Peter Gomes.
