I just saw the UCC commercial... |
|
...that NBC and CBS declined to air for the first time. What could possibly be objectional about that. To object to it you would have to admit that you are open to charges that you participate in that type of exclusionary practice. So are NBC and CBS admitting that there are churches that practice exclusion? And are they trying to be proactive in not offending these groups?
Are we really living in such a bizzarro world that mainstream christianity has become a private club?

1. there are two UCC commercials |
|
both are very powerful... one with the kids and others being interviewed, talking about "all the people"
the second has two bouncer types screening couples as they enter a church- gay couples are refused entrance. very strong, haunting... and it scared the shit out of Bushco.
they should both be on.

It is the one the networks refused to air. The one with the child will be put out in a couple of months; the networks said they would air that one.
I love the commercials; I go to a UCC church, and my church is participating in the ad campaign on the local level. I got an article about it in our local paper this week, and the editor also wrote an editorial about the whole thing.

the face to the fundies, perhaps more than the GLBT issue is the racist issue.
