Father deported to Mexico (Patriot Act run amok)
Too late for LBN.
http://abclocal.go.com/kfsn/news/121104_nw_deported.html

A man who's lived in Madera for the past twenty years has been deported to Mexico.

The family of Tomas Soto appealed to lawmakers and immigration officials to allow him to stay, but their pleas were denied.

They held a vigil outside the federal courthouse Thursday night.

In 1983, Soto was convicted of transporting undocumented immigrants. He served six months.

But, under the Patriot Act, Soto can no longer be granted temporary residence because of his conviction.
