Does someone want to try and explain
why 58,000+ plus died? And why I can't fish in Cuba?

1. I'll try
1) Why 58,000 died. A mistake of policy and a belief in the domino effect led to the deaths of far more than 58,000. A lack of understanding of the history of the region, combined with a leadership and people not fully believing in the cause, led to the inevitable conclusion.

2) Why can't you fish in Cuba? Honestly the better fishing is OFF Cuba? Bwa ha ha...*ahem*...I"m not as clear on this one, but isn't it something to do with residual anger by the U.S. at Cuba for nationalizing the sugar plantations that were mostly owned by large american corporations, and run with practically slave labor driving the cuban people into the worst form of exploitation and poverty? You don't honestly want them to get away with that right?

2. SO basically
they died for a tropical tourist destination? Gee Cuba is closer and the influx of the American tourist dollar could go along way in reviving that island's populace.

3. Essentially yes.
They died for american corporations from sugar companies, to hotel chains, to you name it. The U.S. government has blatantly used force on several occasions for the express purpose of helping american businesses in foreign lands.

4. Cool
so if we invade Cuba and get the sugar back for American corporations then I can fish in Cuba. I'm going to buy new tackle now so I can be ready.

I am kidding

5. Yes
If we invade and take over cuba, and hand back the plantations to their former companies, and the hotels and so on....it'll be a major tourist destination.

By the way if you want to fish there, you can go. They won't arrest you at the border coming back into the U.S. and if your'e worried rip out that page from the passport and blame it on a moped rental place in Guatemala.

6. LOL
I had read you can go to Cuba if you fly to Mexico or Canada first.

7. Yup
I know a few people who have gone and loved it. It's not like going to Cancun or someplace like that. They said it's far more relaxed and laid back. They said it's poor, but no different than any other caribean island.

I don't know if they fished, but one brought back cigars. Right through customs.
