What's with the paper clips?

I must have missed something, somewhere on this great, big board.

But I see all these paper clips. Blue clips, flag clips, flashy clips.

Forgive my ignorance, but the only stupid question is the one not asked.

So... what do they mean? Paper ballots? Perhaps?

2. there was a big discussion on DU one day

Norway used paper clips to protest the Nazi control of their country in WWII

Some DUers said they'd wear a clip and then explain if asked. Others planned to have a chain or bracelet so they could give one to those who might want one. Blue for blue states, areas.
