Words fail me and I'm sure others in expressing my total contempt for the corporate media (CM). They are a disgrace.

who has to re-package that turd and sell it to the public. Of course it won't be the draft, it will have some patriotic jingoistic sounding name and be the next best thing since sliced bread according to the Limbaugh's and Hannity's of the world. Anyone who opposes it will of course be a terrorist sympathizer. :(

5. troop strength is authorized by Congress and does not require a draft. |
|
It really doesn't. If they raise the ceilings on enlistments, they can beef it up by that amount through recruiting. They may have to not be as picky as they are now but they could do it sans draft.

7. you shouldn't be so snarky ... |

it undercuts your credibility and adds nothing to the debate. The hard FACT is that if the Congress raised the allowed troop strength, the size of the Army could well be increased without a draft. And suggesting that giving a G.E.D. equal respect as a diploma is the same as recruiting from prisons is insulting both to the military and our nation's citizens.

8. First, I have no credibility, but many of my arguments do. |
|
Second, I have no idea what snarky means.
Third, there is a long, if not great, tradition of judges giving potential felons the opportunity to join the military to avoid criminal records and jail sentences. I have witnessed this myself during Vietnam. There was a thread here recently where many DUers told stories of felons getting a "second chance" by going to war with mixed results.
Insults are often in the mind of the insulted.
