Will history books have page for Bill First as worst senate leader ever?
Seriously, think about it. First is proposing to set a precedent where 51 people + the vice president can break a fillibuster. Unlimited debate has been a timeless tradition in the US Senate. The cloture rule was the only rule ever passed to limit the fillibuster, and it was passed with the required 60 votes to change senate rules. If Frist does this, I think that history will regard him as destroying the prestige of one of the most important institutions in our democracy.
