Selfish Grandparents? Caption now on FOX news ...
Edited on Mon Dec-13-04 05:10 AM by djmaddox1
Belittling & mocking the AARP seniors that are speaking out against *ush social security privitization! Schmucks! Their 'fair & balanced panel is discussing "are selfish grandparents risking your retirement?"

1. A pox on Fox
but AARP DID sell us all out on the prescription drug thing. It's real hard to trust them again after that.

2. Yeah, but I hate the smug pumping that Fox is doing for the reform package
especially when they are denigrating seniors (not just AARP) to do it. If seniors don't think it's a good idea then they are just talking about them like they were - well, Democrats or something!

Fox could phrase it a bit more respectfully, even if they don't agree. Old fashioned that way, I am! Selfish grandparents, indeed! I got a mouth, but I don't disrepect the old folk like that.

3. Greedy Geezers was originally our line
I forget which medicare reform it was, but back when we controlled Congress, we tried to do an income-scaled medicarte fee of some sort (details are hazy now) and the AARP and the rest of the senior organizations opposed it. Some of our guys went on TV screaming about "Greedy Geezers".

5. "Greedy Geezers"? Aww, don't tell me stuff like that! I'm putting my ...
fingers in my ears now - lalalalalala! Wait, I still see you though. I know that I have to accept that others don't always agree w/my sense of propriety - but not Fox News! They aren't allowed to diss the grandparents!

OK, I'm done for now! LOL

4. Well I do think 3 workers to pay one SS person is something ----
to think about but I really do not know what to think of all this mess. My son keeps asking me. To put money in the stock market is a foolish thing to do. Look at it in this way I see 2 or 3 % of your SS pay into a fund is really not going to re-place the income you lose in the SS income. What happens to people who die early and leave children that need help? What about people who get sick. Just think what income you will get from 2 or 3 percent even after 35 years of doing it and what it will add up to. The stock market is not a place where every one makes money.I just do not know about this. Need more information.

6. No, the grandparents are trying to save SS for their grandkids
if Bush has his way, the fund will be looted and Wall Street brokers will be getting big bucks before the whole thing goes bust. AARP magazine even talked about this. Frankly, I don't think this will go over with older Faux viewers. Even hard core freepers suddenly wake up and object when something Bush does threatens their own self interest in such a basic way, as many of them rely solely on SS for their income.

7. That doesn't even make any sense
Bush has said present retirees stand to lose nothing. If they were selfish, they would just sit back and say, Ha ha, I got mine. Pure propaganda, isn't it?

8. The right wing will smear anyone who takes an opposing view to Bush
I thought I was being cute when I said they would smear their own mother but it looks like they will smear their own grandmother! That's what these AARPs get for supporting Bush in the first place.
