Paul Rodriguez's reply to me after I signed his guest book.
Edited on Mon Dec-13-04 07:41 AM by RebelOne
I was watching Paul Rodriguez on Dennis Miller last night and he made a comment that just made me see red, so I had to write him. Surprisingly, he sent a reply.

My comment on his guest book:

Comments: Paul, I used to be a fan of yours, but not anymore. I am watching you on the Dennis Miller Show tonight. And when you said that we should untie the troops' hands and go in and kick ass, you really riled me up. We have already kicked ass by killing over 100,000 innocent Iraqi citizens.

His answer:
Nancy being a fan of mine's is really insignificant, first of ms Ellen I have been their both Afghanistan and Iraq on three different occasions,I was also at the very end of Vietnam (73) I was the last draft #..in a few days I will be fifty. I hate this an any other war with no rhyme or reason but just Cu's baby Bush got a hair up his but, I have seen (in person) these civilians you speak of and it has cost me sleep. but I have also seen the young army marines, just kids really as old as my own son missing limbs in field hospitals. what would you have as do? be polite not kill so many and prolonge this idiotic war? or end it as ruthless as it seems we could end it but it would cost god only knows how many more lives. not very attractive choices. I'm nobody, just my opinion your free to have yours too, only you get to have your opinions in the comfort of your couch me I open my big mouth and get not so nice letters like yours but death threat from our domestic middle Eastern friends who come from countries where opinions are dealt with in a terminal way ....be well ...GOD BLESS AMERICA

1. This Rodriguez guy is not very intelligent...
Words to the effect that "the war's totally bogus but since we're there, let's kill as many Middle Easterners as possible because some of them threaten us..."

That's like saying, we've got roaches, let's burn down the house.

2. Wow...what a thoughtful, literate fellow
He sounds like a Falwell "blow-them-all-away-in-the-name-of-the-Lord" kinda guy.

If I'm deciphering his jibberish correctly.

3. Is it just me or is his email extremely difficult to read?
After reading it a few times I think I know what he's saying. I wonder if he was typing drunk. :-)

4. Illogical, illiterate, and not so funny anymore.
Nobody worth watching does Dennis Miller's "show".
It seems I hardly ever hear "we should kick some ass" from anyone who would be actively involved in said ass-kicking.
"Kicking ass" seems to be chiefly the choice of spectators...faux-tough guys like Miller and Limbaugh and shrub and now Rodriguez.
A bunch of "beer-throwers". God help 'em if the troops ever "go into the stands" after them like the Pacers.

13. It's good that you did, actually.
If you hadn't stumbled on him just then there'd be no one to tell him how wrong he is. :)

5. Oh, the Vietnam coulda, woulda, shoulda, syndrome
There's alot of that, even from people who know that war was a mistake. We coulda won. Never mind that we dropped more bombs there than in Germany. Never mind we killed millions of people. Never mind that between France and the U.S., we were fighting for what, 30 years? They're still under the delusion we could have won in Vietnam, so they naturally think if we just use enough force, we can win in Iraq. God I hope we don't have to do this for 30 more years to make these people understand.

6. is that his email verbatim?
he writes like a freeper, with that typical sixth-grade word-usage and sentence construction.

Fortunately, I never considered Mr. Rodriguez that funny, so I'll be happy to add him to my list of entertainers that I don't watch. ;-)

way to end the war is just to leave?

Basically, his position is "The war's a mistake but they keep trying to kill us so let's keep killing them until they stop or none of them are left." An odd form of "liberation" by declaring all out war on the people you were supposed to save from oppression and death. We have to "destroy the village in order to save it" all over again.

10. Rodless there can ship himself over if he likes the war that much.
Come on Roddie, do something REAL and stop being a coward (replace the 'c' with the cents symbol... I would but I've got to get going. :-) )

20. That was Cheech Marin
One-time partner of Tommy Chong, who made headlines a couple of years back by getting busted for selling water pipes online by John Ashcroft's G-men. IIRC Chong just got out of jail recently, if anyone is interested.

as you can see from my comment to him. But I do commend him for answering me. You know, most celebrities would not even have botheed to send a personal reply.
