Real Security for this country will come when we deal with others
fairly and justly instead of throwing our weight around and acting like we are somehow more special than others. At one time a case could be made we were special because we adhered to our Constitutional Principles and stood for the equality of all people and providing opportunity for all.In the past twenty five years, our claim to uniqueness lies in tatters and our reckless use of military force makes it even less likely that the world is going to forgive us any time soon for the suffering we have visited on innocent civilans in Iraq and elsewhere. If, as I suspect, this War is based on a manufactured incident, as in Gulf of Tonkin, it is even more reprehensible.

As they say, the wheels of history grind slowly..... etc.

1. Security against whom? No one is attacking us, bothering us, pestering
us.

We've no one to be secure AGAINST.

Except the creeps in the white house, of course.

2. I think that has largely been a Myth
I think the US is acting largely as it always has, but in the old days the lack of internet connections and television cameras made it easier to hide. If you look at the history of the United States you will find more wars (declared or undeclared, in person or by proxy) than any other nation over the same period.

The US has always talked a good game, but the reality at home and abroad has always been very different.

3. lots of people believe poverty and hunger in the world are among our
gravest national security issues... bombs do not feed hungry stomachs nor do they build houses for the countless homeless that roam earth's highways far and wide.
