Humveegate will ultimately bring down Rumsfailed
That's the good news.

The bad news is his replacement will be even worse.

1. Considering that a chimp is president...
Anyone remember the name of the gorilla general from Planet of the Apes?

2. Won't happen. These guys have more armor than any vehicle
We have a media that just isn't engaged. It's time for the "Out of Iraq, Now" protests to begin. One massive voice can change this.

3. The reaction by the troops to the question was telling,
Edited on Mon Dec-13-04 10:07 AM by indigobusiness
and is resonating, not only throughout the army, but throughout America.

First time I ever saw Rumsfeld go wobbly. He is on the ropes.

Mark my word...Gone.

20. Rummy's one of the puppet masters.
When he goes down, we'll know the facade is crumbling.

He is a disgrace.

4. Didn't they do their usual tactic on this ?
Basically, attack the source. Most of what I heard casually over the weekend was how the evil journalist planted the question with the naive army guy.

5. The question should have been asked.
I have another question?
It's been a while since i served, the Humvee was not in use at that time, so pardon my ignorance.
Was the Humvee designed as a armored vehicle or is this a after thought?

This time it was almost laughable.

Call the journalistic ethics into question. Horseshit, they get much more ethical behavior than they give...to the press and everyone else.

There was nothing wrong with helping the troops articulate their concerns.

But, I didn't hear much defense of this evil librul journalist over the weekend, just bashing of him for 'planting' the question.

Eleanor Cliff didn't mince words, and her opinion rang loud and clear. There nothing unethical, and Rummy is toast.

16. I'm willing to bet on it.
Until yeaterday, I would've agreed with you. This is seismic, in the halls of Washington.

But, you are probably right. This administration blows my mind, time after time.

I don't ever recall seeing Rumsfailed go wobbly, before.

18. He is the lighning rod ....
Every republican administration in recent decades has recognized the advantages of having someone like him. For Reagan, is was at first James Watt. And on and on. At this point, the administration benefits by having people focus on Rumsfeld's personality, rather than on the real problem(s). Hence, as long as it's valuable to keep the public's eye on a nasty little man making nasty little comments, he will stay. As soon as the public focuses on the war, and the needless death and maiming of our soldiers -- and yes, it would be nice if we considered the suffering of the Iraqis -- then he's gone.

22. Hey, waterbrother... Where have you been?
I've been in the trenches under withering fire...with nobody to fend off the meanies.

---

You're right, but Watt was an ass clown, along the lines of Dan Quayle. Rumsfeld is the lynchpin of this administration...along the lines of James Baker. This house of cards tumbles without Rumsfeld. That might be the strongest case for his remaining.

Hey, did you see Fritz Hollings skewer BushCo on 60 Minutes? He was brilliantly eloquent on the corruption and incompetence of the nasty ball of wax that is present day Washington Bushworld. He fileted Condi. It was spectacular!

*'s ass. I thought Abu Graib would be it, but that died down. I thought it might be humveegate, but now I think that will settle down too. I think there will come a revelation that will demand someone's head on a platter, and it will be Rummy's rather than *'s.

30. I thought so, too.
If Sy Hersch's report of Abu Ghraib didn't get past the teflon, one can only wonder what will.

Perhaps, it is a cumulative, straw-that-breaks-the-camel's-back sort of deal?

26. An blatant obvious lie this time.
Rumsfailed has been incompetent and has violated the Geneva Convention and that was passed by excpet for a few, like Charles Rangle, who drew up impeachment papers. This time the lie Rumsfailed told has been proven to be a lie. He and Bush are accountable for many deaths and maiming of U.S Troops because the priority of proper armor was ignored. That the troops know this is important. The troops have not been supported. They have been betrayed.
