Homeland Security Czar...Lieberman....if he's asked, will he accept? |
|
We'll lose another Senate seat if Lieberman takes the job. His name is being floated around and some say that he has made it a point lately NOT to say anything bad about the cabal and he would "likely" accept a WH appointment. (just heard on CNN) :grr:
If he takes that job he will affirm my suspicions...he's Zell Miller II. :( Do you think he will give away another Senate seat?

1. It would be worth losing a Senate Seat |
|
Because it would be the end of his career. He'd be done as soon as the chimp left office, and a democrat would take his place in the next election, so It's worth losing a seat short term.

5. I don't think that Lieberman would lose in 2006 |
|
There's not "Dump Lieberman" movement in Connecticut that I know of, and I despise Lieberman, so would be interested if there was one.
I have a feeling that because the Dems are in minority status and he's probably not getting the committee assignments or projects he wants, Lieberman is tiring of the senate, which could explain why he's interested in HS. If Lieberman leaves the senate, I bet Gov. Rell will be pressured by the Republican Party to appoint a Repuke in his place.
In 2006, I would say that Attorney General Richard Blumenthal may run for the senate. Blumenthal has made not movement towards running for governor, so maybe he has the US Senate in mind for his future career.

7. If Lieberman took the seat, he's done. No more elections |
|
Seriously, if he takes the seat, he has to give up the Senate seat which would go to a republican because of the governor of Connecticut, but there's another election just around the corner.
Lieberman would be finished in politics after taking the DHS assignment. He would never be elected again because he would not run for office for four years.
IMO, it's worth it to lose a Senate seat for the short term to get his ass out!

3. I doubt he would accept |
|
He is just being polite in saying he would consider it. He knows that it would mean he'd get replaced by a Republican for 2 years as we have a Republican governor.
Bill Clinton said he'd consider working for Bush as well, but again, I think he's just being polite because he knows he won't be asked.

4. Don't trust Lieberman - |
|
he appears very spineless to me. The Democrats should just tell him to get on with it and admit he's a republican.

9. Someone, in another thread, made a good point... |
|
... that having Lieberman as head of the dept. will only make it possible to blame the Democrats if and when another terrorist attack takes place in the US.
To me, it sounds like a lose-lose situation all around, whether it's the blame game or the loss of a Senate seat.
But then, Lieberman hasn't really impressed me with his ability to do what's best for us in the rank-and-file. :(

12. He should accept, but only if he stops lying |
|
and puts that belongs behind his name out there for everyone to see. This is probably the greatest way in which we cripple our own party...in an attempt to live up to an undefined BIG TENT label, we allow Republicans to use our name to destroy us from the inside.
Enough...Joe and Zell need to go.
