We're getting layed off (sic?), ask me anything!
Well, not all of us, and not for a couple of months, but looks like the target is 15% in one of those leading tech companies that loves to off-shore. The trend continues. - K

4. the worst part is probably that
the ones to go will be the ones that actually know something about technology, while all the ones that get to stay know about technology is how to use powerpoint. been there. result=i now make 33% less than before.

5. four months ago my 2 sons were laid off
they took their 401K's, (22K) and started their own business. it's been smooth as glass, and their first contract was with homeland security, they have paid their 6 month lease and bought equipment at auctions -
im just the mom, but let me tell you they no longer have that robot slave look in their eyes.

9. Nope, I already hold two degrees, but I am looking into
other lines of employment, self-employment this time. This crap has been going on for quite a while, so you get to thinking about alternate futures.

Seriously, I really can't decide if I'd be luckier to stay or be one of the "chosen few". We do get a nice severance package at least.

11. Sorry, I was being a little sarcastic
and asking if you had taken the advice Our Great Leader gave in one of the debates. My thoughts are with you. My husband works for Nortel and we could easily be in the same boat one of these days.

7. I feel for you
my other half has been out of work for 1 1/2 yrs. now. Finally got a temp job making what he did when he was straight out of school.
