Death Penalty (Peterson or other wise). I can live with life |
|
without parole, if you can absolutely guarantee me that it will mean and stay life with out parole.
To many times a killer gets let out.
The DP is a tough one. But life has got to mean life.

2. the real beauty of a "Life with no parole" sentence |
|
is the fact that the media circus would have ended there and then.
Along with the death penalty comes an endless media watch until the sentence is carried out.

Starting with the fact that the death sentence triggers an automatic appeal.
I wonder how old Petersen will be before the death warrant is finally executed...
... and how much money the media will have made from all the publicity.

3. I would hope that "without possibility of parole" means that |
|
I feel this is a major misconception of those who are for the death penalty. Typically it is a case of one or the other, life w/o parole or death. I do not know why I find myself skeptical of the judical system, maybe I was screwed over in a previous life by an unfair trial. Personally there are too many poor black kids being killed versus the stats for whites. I feel that I may be a little more favorable for the penalty if there was some uniformity in the penalty. Also I would like to see all remedies be used up before the penalty is completed.

4. I think that life with out parole |
|
is a highly rational position, since it will make sure that a innocent man/woman is not put to death. I just do not want a guilty killer ever allowed to be able to walk free again.
Some people do some pretty horrible things, and in so doing forfeit their right to be allowed in society. In short they should rot in prison till they stop breathing.

" Having your salad tossed means having your asshole eaten with jelly or syrup ... I prefer syrup
We don't need the death penalty because we got Tossed Salad Man. If I had to choose between the chair and Tossed Salad Man I'd say, where's the plug?" - Chris Rock

10. Peterson would have received death either way |
|
If his sentence would have been life in prison, he would have been killed by another inmate, and not in a painless process.
This was the best sentence for him as sick as that sounds. Now he will be protected on death row. PLUS his chances on appeal are much greater due the death sentence attached to his conviction.

Do YOU take responsibility for what each and every one of your countrymen do?
We're 50 states with 50 different criminal codes. Some have death penalty, some do not.
So cut us just a little slack.

16. If The Judge Has Any Courage He/She Will Not Take The Recommendation |
|
This was a purely circumstantial case. Yes, I think he did it, but thinking he did it is a long way from knowing he did it.
Also, what were the circumstances? Was it a spur of the moment thing or planned out (by one of the dumbest criminals ever)?
Who knows, maybe he was a victim of chaos theory. I could put him in prison for 20-life with what I have seen, but no way do I think death is appropriate with the disclosed facts in this case.
Also, one of the freeper coven at work was bitching about how kali-fornia is too liberal to fry him. This was earlier in the day when (apparently) the jury was having problems reaching a decision. When in doubt, I always take the opposite position of a freeper.
