base on circumstantial evidence. I never heard any conclusive, firm evidence at all.
Next time, that could be me or you on trial.......innnocent until proven guity may not apply if the dice is rolled on our day.

6. As a guy who has defended people in capital cases...... |

I completely agree with you. I really didn't see any hard evidence and I'm surprised they returned a death penalty verdict. The death penalty scares me because I've seen how hard it is to get a truly fair trial.

PS: All that not withstanding my gut tells me Peterson did it. The way he acted afterward seems very telling. I couldn't vote to put him to death though.

8. Indeed, my gut told me he was highly suspicious.... |
|
and something was smelly but, that said, I'm very firm on the necessity of evidence, beyond a reasonable doubt. Circumstantial data does not reach that yardstick .... I refuse to lower the standard for the innocent defendant of tomorrow.
This jury is trying to validate themselves now.....I'm listening to their comments.....all about Connor and Lacy.....true but wouldn't it be a travesty they kill an innocent man.... I just don't really know if he is guilty or innocent.
I really am preaching to the choir here....you know way better that I do, and are articulate on the issue.

10. Yes! He was convicted and sentenced to death for being a scumbag |
|
In my heart of hearts I believe he did it but I cannot say that there was any evidence that says so beyond a reasonable doubt.
Emotional pleas to the jury work a lot better and more often than they should. This is not as bad, but almost as bad, as when the defense puts the deceased victim on trial but two wrongs do not make a right.

It's like messing with the DNA of our Judicial System. This could lead to a return of burning witches......

12. Many cases are based om |

circumstantial evidence. In many instances, it is far better than "eyewitness" evidence. However, in this case, the circumstantial evidence was not as overwhelming as it might have been.
I thought that the prosecutor proved the case. I do not believe in the death penalty, and prefer that people can have the opportunity to appeal a verdict. Certainly, people have been shown to be innocent even in cases that had stronger circumstantial and eye witness evidence against them.

4. That whole case was a joke |
|
The prosecution blew it. Johnny didn't win it. All it seemed that Marsha Clark was interested in was what short skirt she would wear each day to court. The other guy on the case--who assisted her, was much better and he took the verdict very hard too.

It would have been tough, Johnny Cochran has a brain tumor and is in and out of the hospital for either chemo or radiation.
