Did "Big Oil" give YOU a pink slip for X-mas? Over 300,000 workers got on
From another one of my "Big Oil" posts...
Very important and timely news on "Big Oil" that everyone should read...
I felt it was an intriguing sidenote concerning America's "Big Oil" woes and would bring more meaningful discussion to the people following our posts about the Delaware Oil Spill ("Give these animals a fighting chance... They desperately need you now..." & "Are you ready for this? It's about time! (***not for the weak at heart)")...
If you thought you were mad at "Big Oil" before, you're going to be REALLY pissed after hearing about this...

Hi my name is Bethann with Citizens Take Charge and http://www.gasolineboycottday.org
I was appalled by a very quick news blurb on CNN the other day regarding a story about scores of Americans losing their jobs this month (and last month) due to higher energy and health care costs. Companies are now being forced to enact more cost-containment measures to protect their "profits."

There you have it folks, "Big Oil" strikes again by giving Americans the "quadruple-whammy" - high gas prices and gouging at the pump, high heating prices, major job losses, and massive environmental devastation... Can it get any worse than this? Maybe... Read on...

QUOTE:
"Higher health care and energy costs for employers and employees are definitely taking a toll. Companies are being forced to enact more cost-containment measures to protect profits."

US firms announce 104,530 job cuts in November, survey shows

By REUTERS Dec 7, 2004

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - US employers announced plans in November to step up job cuts, with the total exceeding 100,000 for the third month in a row, an industry survey showed Tuesday.

Employers posted 104,530 cuts in November, up 2.6 percent from the previous month, according to a survey sponsored by international outplacement firm Challenger, Gray and Christmas.

Government workers were hardest hit, with 21,971 cuts, followed by telecommunications workers, with 21,158 job losses.

"Not only are more companies announcing job cuts, there are more jobs being eliminated in each announcement," said the outplacement firm's chief executive, John Challenger.

"This volatility could continue into 2005 as competition forces more companies to consider strategic combinations," he said in a statement.

"Higher health care and energy costs for employers and employees are definitely taking a toll. Companies are being forced to enact more cost-containment measures to protect profits."

On the same day the November job cut survey was released, household products giant Colgate-Palmolive announced that it would cut 12 percent of its global workforce -- about 4,400 jobs -- and close one-third of its factories over four years.

Challenger said a weak labor market could hurt the crucial holiday shopping season.

"The biggest worry for the economy is that the large number of lower-middle-class and middle-class Americans struggling to make it paycheck to paycheck will be short of discretionary income during the holiday shopping season," he said.

According to official government figures released Friday, the US economy added 112,000 jobs in November, disappointing economists expecting a stronger surge. The unemployment rate was 5.4 percent.

(end)

So this is how "Big Oil" wishes America a happy holiday season???
We can take action by sending G.W. and his host of greedy oil pals a clear message on by boycotting gasoline Jan 20, 2005 (Inauguration Day). Lets start hitting THEM where it hurts... their private-investment bank accounts...

2. The Vultures are circling over Florida's west coast again
But the Bu$h brothers have assured people they would never, ever, never drill off Florida's coast in the Gulf of Mexico.

Bastards.

4. We must protect our CEOs!
It is an absolute tragedy that hundreds of CEOs have fallen a couple million short of the 20,000,000 mark for the year because of high health care and fuel costs. Something has to be done. I recommend mass lay-offs of tens of thousands of workers! It's the best way to save these guys' salaries from shrinking, to save their precious profit margins.

It's the "American way"! So are you a real American ready to "take one for the team"? ARE YOU? Or are you a filthy, stinking pinko-commie traitor!?
