Governor (Jeb) recalls political miracle (this man is crAzy as a loon)

Governor recalls political miracle

Gov. Jeb Bush, a devout Catholic, credited the Virgin of Guadaloupe with interceding on his brother George's behalf during the 2000 presidential election.

TALLAHASSEE - Exactly 469 years after the Virgin of Guadalupe was said to have appeared in Mexico, Gov. Jeb Bush was marveling at another act of higher intervention: The U.S. Supreme Court's decision to make his brother president.

That happened four years ago. Monday, Bush, a devout Catholic who met his wife in Mexico, recalled the Dec. 12 manifestation date when a body of unelected officials -- Florida's presidential electors -- certified his brother's recent win by 380,978 votes with little drama.

In 2000, George W. Bush won by a 537-vote margin that plunged Florida into 37 days of divisive bickering and nonstop news coverage. Jeb Bush didn't miss any of that turmoil at all Monday when he mentioned the story of the Virgin Mary's ability to unify.

She is said to have appeared on Dec. 12, 1531, to a peasant on the temple site of an Aztec goddess, uniting Aztec and Catholic culture.

''Four years ago was the culmination, if you recall. . . of a lot of anguish, a lot of tension that isn't my style. I didn't really appreciate all the satellite dishes out here. And the night of the appearance of the Virgin of Guadalupe, on Dec. 12, was the day. That night the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the president,'' the governor said.

''That was the more emotional day, Dec. 12,'' he said.

I would like to apologize to all Aztecs and their descendants, to the Aztec goddesses and gods, to all Catholics everywhere (particularly the social-justice oriented ones) for this horrid abuse of all things spiritual. May God (and the gods and goddesses) have mercy on our souls.

:-(

6. On Behalf of Social-Justice Oriented Catholics,...
...you, IndyOP, have no need to apologize. We do, however, appreciate your thought.

BTW, attention bush supporting Catholics, the cabal is once again bastardizing the faith of millions of people, including YOU!!!

I guess it's good to know that we're going to be protected from "hummasechuls', Janet Jackson's boobs and Nicolette Sheridan's towel!

4. Someone should tell Jeb that evangelical xians really really detest
the worship of Mary in any form. They also consider Catholics to be unsaved.
and the Pope is considered an abomination, according to the ultra evangelical born agains.

11. That's because Mary is really just another of the Goddess' personas
Just look at this story-Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe appeared to the peasant on the site of an aztec temple. Many old catholic churches in Europe were built on former pagan temples, and many of the feast dates and holidays are on days that were pagan celebrations. Puritanical protestants believe that catholics are not really worshipping their one true God because of the status Virgin and the Saints. I think that Jack Chick has at least one tract to that effect-that Mary is not the "Queen of Heaven", and that the catholics are really venerating an ancient sumerian goddess.

Me, I'm a grown-up. I recognize that what we call God or Goddess is beyond those labels and of pure spirit.

5. Dysfunctional religious freak!

This is just another idiotic attempt to stroke the so-called religious movement in this country. I doubt he knows one blessed thing about the Virgin of Guadalupe, let alone God and Jesus. If he did, this country wouldn't be going in the direction it is with all the lying, cheating and murdering of this administration. He's all a part of the picture and WILL be held accountable.

14. Tacky.....
this is low and tacky! But what can I expect from the jebster. Sorry, but I am a Roman Catholic too. The story of the Virgin of Guadalupe is a magnificent story of God's love for all people. The Mother of Jesus appeared as an Aztec princess to Juan Diego a Mexican. Despite the fact that it was in the dead of winter, red roses appeared on Juan Diego's 'tilma' a cape made of dried cactus leaves. The tilma with the image of the Virgin can still be seen in the cathedral in Mexico City. I know that I am going to be flamed but that's the story in a nutshell. Funny, Jeb seems to forget that the Roman Catholic church is also against capital punishment and wars of attrition.

9. Hmmmm.....I wonder.
How Jeb is going to explain the "punishment" of three hurricans, right after each other, that did such massive damage to a good portion of Florida. Seems to me that any "god-fearing, Catholic" would start to wonder about the wrath of God instead of the so-called "miracles" he's thinking of. His "miracle" was handmade, not divinely inspired.

13. What a miracle! Republican judges appoint a Republican President.
Will wonders never cease.

Seems like political cronyism and corruption had more to do with it than the Virgin Mary.

Jeb, want to check with the Vatican on its opinion of that "miracle?" What a load of crap.

15. If there is a God, Jeb Bush is going to burn in hell for that statement.
The man knows this election was a fraud, and now he's trying to rally his Christian right by calling it a miracle.

It's a mortal sin to hide your politics behind the cross. I'm sure of it.
