In today's LTTE: "Lesbian minister deserved to lose job"
http://www.dailylocal.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=13549138&BRD=1671&PAG=461&dept_id=17785&rfi=6

Some choice excerpts:

"The so-called minister who disclosed her deviate lifestyle should have been defrocked. She was defrocked because she didn’t follow the rules and for having extremely poor values."

"Why liberal and progressive people accept this abnormal behavior and attempt to get normal people to accept it is beyond me. There is nothing normal about this lifestyle. I have two children and I will continue to teach them that these people are mentally sick individuals no matter how they wish to portray themselves out in public."

As always, feel free to use the "Voice Your Opinion" option at the top of the article. :)

1. If these people had their way gays and lesbians would be put into ovens
They can't come out and just say it (not yet anyway), but that's what they would ultimately like to see if they had their druthers.

2. I don't think that's the case. I'm a Methodist and looked into
this. Now, I'm not criticizing the minister for being honest to herself and congregation. In fact, I applaud it because it is rare in most churches these days, but the rules laid out by the church body clearly state that consequences for being and openly gay minister is defrocking. I'm happy to to hear that she will continue to work with the church as a lay person. No Methodist that I know wants to hurt anyone who is gay or lesbian. They may not approve of the lifestyle, but they don't want any harm to them. Also, I'm in the South so they are more conservative here that the rest of the country.

4. I think the person above is criticzing the letter writer...the nutcase
is calling the minister abnormal and mentally sick. I'm sure this type of person would want harm to come to her.

You're right about the laws, and the minister deliberately became very open about her homosexuality to bring the issue to a boil, and out in the open. She knew she was going to be defrocked, but saw a larger issue here, and I applaud her for that.

6. Outrageous!
The real morons ( :dunce: )are the people who spout this sort of garbage. I can just see in a few years from now, the woman who teaches her kids that gays and lesbians are "mentally sick," will be asking her children why they are in therapy for depression. And the answer they'll give is, "Because we're gay and you taught us to hate gay people. So, we hate ourselves and we're in emotional trauma because of your lousy parenting!"

What in the sam hill makes these idiots think that two people who love each other--no matter the gender--is wrong?

I spend more time than I can account for trying to teach people what the Bible says versus what they want it to say. And every part of Scripture these bozos quote has more subtle or directed meaning in the original languages than most of our English translations allow.

But nooooooo, common responses remain narrow: "But in my King James Version Bible with Jesus' words in red lettering and commentary by televangelist Chuck Swindoll on every page, it says . . ."

AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!

How long, O Lord, must we suffer these bigots and pinheads?

:puke:  :grr: x(

8. Interesting
The letter writer (And don't you wish editorial pages would turn down submissions scrawled in red crayon?) can't even bring himself to name Irene Elizabeth Stroud. She's just a construct for him, an object to be vilified and not a person at all.

Ms. Stroud, however, has been called to be a minister by a higher authority than the governing body of the Methodist Church. As such, I have every confidence that she will fulfill that calling far more honorably and effectively than many of the folks who voted to strip her of her ordination.

15. I wonder if the writer is also a local dentist...
I did a search for his name and "West Chester", and there's a local dentist with the same name.
