Did the Bushies Request Kerik to Kill off Rudy?
The major casualty of this scandal is Rudy Giullani - is this a pre-emptive strike for 2008 so that Rudy doesn't interfere with Jeb's slot?

Perhaps the Bushies requested that Rudy nominate Kerik to send him onto his sword?

The whitehouse had to know all this dirt on him in the 4 weeks of investistigations they did to vet Kerik.

2. They knew - they WANT thugs loyal to them, and Kerik fits the bill.
He's more partisan than real public servants and he campaigned constantly for Bush.

Both he and Giuliani were considered untouchable after 9-11 so Bush thought he could get away with the appointment. Too bad the press never bothered to expose Kerik while he was campaigning so loyally for Bush.

4. I agree:
IMO the entire Homeland Security Department is going to be a patronage home for Bush, since he made sure that civil service didn't apply, and Kerik is a man made by patronage. It was his sole qualification for the office.

5. Buzz headline sums it up
I think Buzzflash hit the nail on the head with this headline:

Newsweek: Bush ignored warnings about Kerik's time bomb of corruption -- because he thought Kerik's tough cop image was really cool 12/13

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6700947/site/newsweek/

In Bushworld, as we know, style over substance is not only just fine, but demanded.

Of course, a two-fer, with Giuliani out of the way, too, would surely have worked out very nicely for some in the Bushco circle.

6. The Buck's gotta stop with Bush......
...some time:smoke:

I'm more concerned about our future Attorney General having "vetted" him in the first place. Doesn't he know how to at least Google?
