Information Clearinghouse: Watch this and report back to this thread. |

Please watch this thread and listen to the voiceover. Listen closely. Something in that disturbs me rather significantly and I do not mean the verbiage, per se. See if you can grok the implications. http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article7468.htm

1. what's wrong with this... |

I don't get it...you think the Voiceover is not a legitimate Iraqi? Sounds like a British educated Arab to me...and he makes grammar mistakes, which makes it believably from the insurgency....
So, i'm lost...what's wrong with the video.

except the message is the exact opposite of what they would have said.... Interesting voice. Souonds like they are trying to unite the world against the US...Economically and politically. Trying to get even the US soldiers in Iraq to lay down their arms. "What if they gave a war and no one showed up"

fact that the communique is in perfect English is interesting. I wonder if it is from the Islamic Jihad Army....
I don't recall it saying anything that praises Allah, which seems strange to me for an Islamic Jihad Army.
Am I missing anything?

It's IRISH. Consider the implications. Admittedly a soft and well-educated Irish, but Irish none the less.

10. Maybe it was done with help from the IRA. |
|
The man in the video is right about one thing -- the Iraq War is the main front in a world wide struggle -- and it would not surprise anyone if non-Iraqis are involved in the struggle in a real, 'on the ground' way.

6. What bothers you? I thought it was right on the mark! |

The fellow reading it appears to have incredible English skills with a touch of an English accent and the video is very well edited -- professional even. But I imagine that there are professional film makers in the resistance. The resistance probably has Europeans in it too. I found it inspirational!

That if that accent is Irish, and I have spent quite enough time in Britain to get very good with the regional accents, then it is really possible that "The Hard Men" are in the game over there. If they are, then that is Bad Juju. Those guys are tough and experienced at insurrectionist warfare and idealogically tough as well. That presents a whole new wrinkle on things and a lot of danger for those people on both sides.
"The Hard Men" have always accepted civilian casualties as a price of their efforts.

14. Could be an Iraqi educated abroad who learned an inflected English. |
|
The former leader of the separatist Parti Quebecois, Jacques Parizeau, learned his perfect English in the UK, and speaks it accented with antiquated idioms like "by Jove." Listening to his English, you wouldn't believe him to be a francophone Quebecois.

13. Irish or whatever................ |
|
This is called "speaking truth to power" and I listened to it four times. Found myself with a tear in the old eye. This is the type of "rally round the flagpole" speech we could use more of in the Dem party. My heart is with the innocents in this country. I hope this video gets a lot of play. I just sent it out to my e-list.
