Santa 'a Democrat', Scrooge, Grinch 'Republicans', New Zogby
A plurality of likely voters say that longtime Christmas fixture Santa Claus is a Democrat, a new Zogby International poll reveals. The same survey found voters even more sure of the political leanings of two other Christmas icons: Ebenezer Scrooge and the Grinch are likely Republicans. The interactive poll of 2562 likely voters was conducted from Wednesday to Friday (December 1 to 3, 2004). The margin of error is +/- 2.0 percentage points.

Ebenezer Scrooge, the miserly Charles Dickens character in A Christmas Carol, was overwhelmingly picked as a Republican by 43% of respondents-twice the 21% who believed him to be a Democrat. Only 4% said he is an independent, while 8% thought the small businessman was a good fit for the limited-government, anti-tax Libertarian Party.

The curmudgeonly Grinch, subject of Dr. Seuss' classic The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, was considered a likely Republican by 31% in the poll-more than the 24% who believed him a Democrat. Another 7% said the Grinch was a likely Green-possibly more in reference to his complexion than his politics. The reclusive Grinch was thought a Libertarian by 6%.

2. Frank Burns, Hotlips Hoolihan from M.A.S.H. = republicans.
More kind-hearted than most repubs, but definitely republicans. In fact, they were identified as republicans in the show.

Hawkeye, Trapper John et al = Democrats.

It's hilarious watching old TV shows, old movies, were tight-fisted, narrow-minded, mean ignorant uptight morons were identified as republicans. Of course that STILL identifies republicans, only they're now so ignorant they think that's a "christian" way to behave.

3. Don't forget Archie
Archie was the number one bigot in America.The shit he said was so outrageous, it was funny. It's how Rush Limbaugh should be treated today - with laughter and amusement.

But somehow, ...it's probably Reagan's fault, racism never faded away.

Reagan made America comfortable with its racism.

Today, Rush has the same hatred, and says the same things Archie said 25 years ago, and he's "the leader of the Republican party," the title Reagan bestowed on him.

<sigh...>
