2. I don't know. I saw this link buried in another thread and knew that |
|
if it was going to get any action from DU, it needed its' own thread.
I would HOPE that both Byrd and Kennedy would stand up for us.

3. I do wish that John Kerry was our president. |
|
But, from my chair here, all indications are that the election is over.
Suppose for a minute that that the vote was contested and it showed that Kerry had actually won the election.
What happens next?
Bushwad will volunteer to leave office because he is such a great and generous fella?
I don't tink so.
More likely, there would be a huge cover up, complete with murders, and falsified evidence to support bushwad. And, don't forget the media.
The media is starting to be more critical today (which really pisses me off) but you must remember that they were silent when it mattered the most ..... during the campaign. I love bushwad skits flooded the channels disguised as news stories. Even our convention had real conservative ass-holes as commentaries.
Unfortunately, our candidate does not appear to be willing to fight either. Look at it this way; like a domestic violence case.
You do not have a crime unless there is a victim. A victim willing to testify and to stay the course. When someone tries to help the "victim" see the light and get a divorce, the same thing almost always happens. They change their mind, he wasn't so bad, he really loves me, and then they attack YOU.
We do not have a willing victim; and the same thing will likely happen here.
The facts are these: our party ran the worst campaign in the history of politics ..... and lost. This was coupled with the largest grass roots effort on record along with the largest fund raising total in history. They ran ads on the fucking game show channel while bush ran ads during the most popular network shows in America.
The sky is not blue. It has Fallen. In fact, it was falling when many of us said it was. The urgency that I sense in your post is similar to the urgency expressed months ago about the direction the campaign was heading.
I hate to admit it, but the indications are that we lost the election.

Ask the bushwad controlled justice department open and conduct an investigation? Not a chance.
And if the vote goes to Kerry in the end, how do you remove him from office? Every document will be contested, every witness slandered, and the lies of the campaign will pale at the lies told in the media to support him. Your effort could succeed only in sparking a civil war. In that case bushwad wins again. Impose martial law, label all democrats "enemy combatants" bla bla bla. Will this approach work against a man willing to use nuclear arms against anyone who opposes him? Not a chance.
Seek a peaceful solution through impeachment in a republikkklan controlled senate? Not a chance.
You forget that you are dealing with a psycho who does not submit to any authority; Including the UN, Germany, France, China, Russia,70% of the Europeans, or 85% of the Arabians. Why on earth would he submit to you.
Have you noticed the increased attacks on the media lately? Which reporters would be willing to risk it, and how long do you suppose that they would live?

"You forget that you are dealing with a psycho who does not submit to any authority"
And how would you assume that since you don't even know me? Not one true Democrat would 'forget' such a thing.
Please don't bother replying, because I won't be doing so.
If you have to ask "OK, now what?", I think you might just be on the wrong board.

10. Actually, I am a life long liberal |
|
I would love to see a Democratic President, now more than ever.
I am not sure that removing the rodent is a practical idea. Even if it were based on solid evidence.
My question was "how would we proceed if all the evidence in discussed in the link were true"? I cannot imagine an effective path.
I do hope that you do not feel personally attacked here. That is honestly my intent. Sometimes my typing does not accurately reflect the intended delivery at an emotional level.
My sincere apologies if you feel offended.

12. Just why is it anti-progressive to ask, "OK, Now what?" |
|
I would think that any intelligent person should try to anticipate the real world consequences of any action that they may take.

11. That is not the way it works. |

It seems that folks around here have this image of some brave senator contesting the election and everything stops while and investigation is conducted.
Now here is the reality. After the senator and the Representative move to contest, the two houses of congress remove immediately to debate the contest. Two hours are allowed. No delaying tactics are allowed. In two hours a vote SHALL be taken on what to do about the contest. Since it will be the new congress that will be doing it, it will be the Republican controlled congress. They WILL win the vote to dismiss the challenge and accept the votes.
The senator will have spent personal political capital on an act of symbolic value at most. It will NOT result in a Kerry presidency. Senators don't like to spend their efforts with no return. I doubt that any senator will join the effort.

5. done! I hope she hears us and |
|
brings the rest of the Democrats with her. They should ALL stand up for this. I would think that F 911 would have completely humiliated the entire group for not supporting the Congressional Black Caucus in 2000. Will they do again? If they do, I'm leaving the party. I promise.
