Stop Sign Activism
I went to visit my alma mater on Monday, partly to gauge how things were going post election, just to see how the place had fared since I've been there 14 years ago.

I noticed something on the stop signs as I got close to the campus that I thought was a damn fine idea. Someone had written under the word "STOP" in considerably smaller letters the word "war." Another one said "STOP Bush"

The possibilities are endless. STOP fraud, for example. STOP and think.

As long as it's large enough to be read but small enough to be left alone, you should be able to get away with it. Made me stop and read. What do you think? Eh? Eh?

2. On a tour of downtown Honolulu a few weeks ago...
right across from the capitol building we went by a Stop sign that said "US Imperialism" underneath. Some native Hawaiians are big on the idea of seccession.

4. And well the Hawaiians should be.
The Hawaiians had their islands stolen from them by the money grubbing white man and would like them back. Another case of our government not following the existing law where money is to be make.

5. defacing taxpayer paid items is not a good idea
Those signs are expensive, and the government takes them down not long after they get graffiti'd. Consider that people get upset at vandalism of public property, and may respond negatively to your message.

8. It's vandalism
I mean I can see that there are possibilities--but at some point some poor shlub who works for the city is going to be sent around to clean it up--your just making more work for that guy.

14. It's been done before
When I was a college student at OSU in Columbus, Ohio in the early '70's, pretty much every stop sign around campus sported a "war" underneath the "STOP" letters. Time to revive the tradition.
