I guess the new Missle Defense System Didn't Work |
|
BBC reports that the test yesterday failed. Ironically, the mock incoming missle worked. The other one didn't take off.
First test in two years.
Hopefully the Russians and the Chinese don't become our enemies again because then we might actually need a missle defense system.
We are OK for right now, tho. I don't think they work too well against pipe bombs and hand held rocket launchers and AK-47's.

3. Yes. But we need a catchy patriotic name for it. |
|
The Rummynator? Since it is just as effective.

2. It has never worked. Not once. |

Not in a true test. Their only 'successes' have been against drone aircraft, not missiles.

4. And they had the exact co-ordinates and times for shooting |

them down.
Pretty embarrassing, isn't it. Iran's new missles seem to work. North Korea's missiles seem to work.
No wonder we want missiles outlawed in other countries. We can't build one that actually does more than look good.

George Bush's resurrection of "Star Wars" just ticks me off. It never worked when Reagan supported it, and it is a waste of money and resources now. It is yet another example of "Cold War" thinking in a new age of terrorism. There is virtually no way--short of unilateral reduction and elimination of nuclear weapons--to protect people from a missile attack.
In today's world, if a terrorist wanted to cause a nuclear catastrophe, a device could be carried and detonated in a briefcase--no missile needed whatsoever. That's a real danger about which to be concerned.
