So, when Rumsfeld goes...
Do you think it will be because:
1. He really, really wants to spend more time with his family
2. Oooops! He had an undocumented alien for a nanny 30 years ago and forgot to pay her taxes
3. He was cheating on the mistress with whom he was cheating on Mrs. Rumsfeld......naaaah...
5. He finally realized that he's totally screwed the pooch with the Iraq war and his sense of honor requires him to move aside and let someone more competent (and grounded in reality) try to bring some order to the utter shitstorm we're in there......What the f**k am I thinking, this is DUMSFELD we're talking about...
6. Some as-yet-to-be-determined lameass excuse.
Anyway, I can't wait, both for the "resignation" (read, sacking) and the lameass excuse. BTW, anyone else want to bet that Kerik's "nanny" only exists in some WH political operative's imagination?

2. It'll be because it's "time for him to retire"...

E.G. he'll use #1...BUT, of course...
It'll really because he's Dub's new velcro man in the Cabinet, and he's costing Dub unconditional support in Congress. With Dub, it's all about "What can you do for me tomorrow?" to make me look good in the eyes of...well, me!:eyes:

Only family can get away with mistakes like that and not pay a heavy price in the world of the BFEE.

B-)

made a bundle of money off the dead of 9/11, a proper republican ghoul. No, I think it was the fact that he would have been a stationary target for the Democrats for any number of reasons during the confirmation hearings (he's got some real conflict-of-interest issues) and the WH couldn't stand to think of what might get dragged out in the process. I think that's why they offered it to Lieberman, he's pliant and acceptable to both sides, at least the Dems wouldn't be as hard on him.
