An African American woman is killed by an antiviral drug on a drug study, not by her HIV infection.

"Ouch! Not much we (we) can do about dumb (dumb) docs," Dr. Edmund Tramont, NIH's AIDS Division chief, responded in an e-mail after his staff reported that doctors continued to administer the drugs nevirapine and Combivir to Hafford despite signs of liver failure."

This Dr. Tramont (shades of Dr. Mengele) is the same MD who rewrote a study using this same drug in Uganda downplaying the side effects (death). He even admitted that if the same study was done in the US, it would be dc'd, but the need was greater in Uganda to continue using this drug.
