The Values of a person is not the truth
All life echoes around the heart. The nature of our choices are the reflection of our own soul. To judge one person you must first judge yourself.

2. explain this wisdom to people who misuse the word truth
They need to open thier minds and try to understand other ways of thinking. They believe the closed mind is a value that shows strength.A couple of smacks up-side the head may work with the neocon's culture war

3. Old school philosopher here.
I've never been in a Philosophy class. Everything I learn comes from observing life just as the original philosophers did. The idea of wisdom is not the nature or version of all truths. For a person to claim they are wise means they are lying. Truth is obtained only through experiences of life.

The experiences we face right now are what shapes the idea of truth.
The path one chooses also reflects the idea of truth. A good person will choose a path of no reward. The idea that one must be rewarded for choosing to be good doesn't mean they are truly good. To understand the basic elements of truth you must first understand your own life choices and what leads you there.

4. yes indeed, Oscar Wilde had a good line on truth
"The truth is never pure and rarely simple"

Like many of his observations on the human condition this one is uncannily accurate. Those who argue to the contrary see life as black and white when it is really a myriad of shades of grey.

The advocates of "free will" are the worst offenders...usually fundies. Chuck in the effects of our biochemistry on how we behave and the absurdity of a pure distillation of life into right and wrong become all too clear. A few things are fairly easy to separate into either/or; most things in life are a tad more complicated.

5. A recent piece I read lamented that some people's ideas are labeled values
while others' are not. The ideas of the "Christian" Right, it seems, are labeled values, while those of other Christians, other faiths, other political orientations, other ideas about what is morally important, are not.
