So is Rummy going to be a sacrificial lamb?
The media whores are giving him a tongue lashing about the snide comments he made over a week ago. Bill KKKristol, John McCain and others are calling him on the carpet. Bush, as always, has remained silent--I guess "the White House" will issue another official statement on it.

It seems that they don't think the "elections" in January are going to go very well. It seems they are setting up Rummy as a scapegoat for Messopotamia.

It couldn't happen to a better (that means worse in RW land) person.

1. Sacrificing Rummy at this stage is tantamount to admitting a mistake.
It will never happen.

2. Yup, he's definitely a scapegoat
I love how Trent Lott is like "he should be listening to his officers." Um yes, he should. But last time I checked, Bush's alternate title was Commander-in-Chief. Perhaps he should also do a little listening.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with watching Rummy go down in flames, but it does irk me that nobody's looking in Bush's direction. Particularly since he's about to spend over $40 million on a party that's supposed to "honor our troops" while said troops are digging through trash heaps for armour. What a bunch of #$(*!@.

5. That's exactly how I feel
and will they replace him with Douglas Fieth (sp?) It's the same thing. I would like to see him humiliated though.

4. Bush won't fire Rumsfeld
until Cheney says it's OK.

are buried and a few other things.

9. That's what I've been thinking
darth has too much on the boy chimp* for him to fire him. I think he'll be accidented, that way they can clear the decks without admitting to a fuckup.

It may be also, that darth has prepared an in the event of my death expose, he's evil, but, not totally stupid.

7. How will Bush slither out of this one...he has repeatedly praised Rummy
for "doing a great job!"....It will be fascinating to once again watch Bush wiggle free, if Rummy is canned....:puke:

8. sacrificial lamb implies innocence.
Nothing innocent about that arrogant bastard. He's been a disaster by any objective standard. I think he will get dumped- and it can't be too soon for me, but I don't think it'll happen immediately. He'll probably be gone by the time the daffodils bloom here.

10. WOW, you beat me to that comment! "Implied innocence!"
Take the hit, take the fall, maybe, but not sacrificial lamb.

I think Rummy will simply quit within a short time. He's got lots of $$, he's over 70 years old, and I doubt his ego really wants to endure all the criticism from people on his own side.

The biggest problem is that Wolfowitz would probably succeed him, and I think that would be worse.

11. Agreed,
that's why I called him a scapegoat. He's absolutely not innocent, but he's not the only one responsible either.

12. He's responsible for a fuck of a lot of the disaster that is Iraq
Scapegoat my ass. He doesn't even deserve that appelation. He was one of the leaders of the rah rah war crowd. He went in to Iraq with a totally flawed plan- I was and remain against this war, but it's clear that he made a hash of it. He's as creepy and incompetent as anyone in that lousy administration.

13. I'm not trying to defend him
I'm just pissed off that the buck is stopping on his desk. It's like Bush isn't the least bit responsible for any of it. By scapegoat I mean that he is taking all of the blame when in reality he should be sharing it with others in the administration...Bush, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Rice, etc.

As I said, I have absolutely no problem with him being called to the carpet, I merely wish that ALL of those responsible were receiving the same treatment.

14. The Only Person Who Can Get Rid Of Rummy, Is Rummy
He ain't goin' anywhere, I can practically guarantee it. He's a Capo. He's higher on the food chain than Bush and is doing his job EXACTLY the way they want it done. Chaos is expensive and good cover for embezzling the Iraq war funds, which is what this war is all about.

16. Yup. They'll wait until the heat is all the way up
then throw him out to pacify their critics. And what's more disgusting is that it will probably work. More "decisive" action from our commander in chief. Ugh.

17. I'll believe it when it happens
I was sure that he was going down over Abu Garaib. But the amazing thing about this gang of criminals is that none of them has ever had to take responsibilty for any of the numerous mistakes, blunders and outright fuckups that have been the sordid story of their misrule.
