(From my city paper): Liberals out to crush Christian, Jewish icons
This is from my city paper. The writer is a teacher at a local high school---ARGHHHH!!

AYALA: Liberals out to crush Christian, Jewish icons

HECTOR AYALA
letters@tucsoncitizen.com

Well, here is the Christmas season again - no, not the "holiday" season - and again we see legions of liberals crawling out of their holes with the usual yearly complaints.

Every year, there are overtures against God and every year, they get louder. These people come out like leprous bag ladies every Christmas season with old carts full of the same old noxious ideas about what they would like to turn this country into.

They hate the word "God" and the notion of Christianity; and at Christmas time, they join ranks and come out en masse, like Grinches, to scare everyone into a new order.

5. Like the story
about the "christians" harassing the people in the gay parade. If liberals did what the "christians" did at the Christmas parades - there probably would be riots.

16. Heard it
Who is stopping them from saying merry Xmas!? Will there be more Good Will towards men and peace on Earth if we are forced into saying "Merry Christmas?" I was raised Catholic and saw the "Happy Holidays" thing creep in and it's been around since the 50's. If sharing the season with all by giving up "Merry Christmas" as a sacrifice to Jesus's words, then I will.

7. Yeah. I just got back from stomping the baby Jesus doll in the town square
They all gripe about this vague threat from "liberals" or the ACLU, but there is NOTHING happening on this front. It's like the stories of 'frivolous' lawsuits - "like the coffee lady at McDonalds" Sure, it was over 10 years ago, sure she had massive skin grafts on her lap and genitalia, sure her settlement was reduced to a pittance, but we never hear the end of it.

Granted, there are a few DUers who look at a Christmas tree or nativity scene and see it as a burning cross, but most of us don't, and there simply is NOT organized attempt to "stop Christmas" or the displays accompanying it. At the most, the ACLU is trying to see that such displays are done fairly, so that nobody is shown favoritism. What's wrong with that?

8. Leprous bag ladies?
Jesus had a thing about lepers I thought. Like helping them, curing them?

First thing this person does is degrade one of his God's children.

Jeeze.

11. I can't wait join my local "Liberal Christams Busters Task Force"
We're gonna kick in every door in every home and make sure DAMN WELL that NOBODY is celebrating Christmas in their home! No Christmas for ANYONE this year!
(How much you wanna bet this quote ends up on Freerepublic? Taken out of context, of course. For those who don't understand, the above post is sarcasm.)

:eyes:

Sheesh!
The only people that get louder every year are the poor, poor "persecuted" right-wingers that every single year want to force their religious beliefs on more people. I mean, it's not like there's any churches around, right?

13. No doubt he's one that
believes that you cannot be christian unless you are a fundy and no fundy could be liberal. My parents question the state of my christianity because I am liberal and voted for Kerry.

Yeah, they judge me and totally don't see the hyprocrisy there.

23. I voted for Kerry precisely because I am a Christian.
It's hard for me to see very much Christianity in the arrogant disregard for fellow humans which seems to characterize so much of the GOP leadership today.

17. This is the noise machine's newest loudest talking point.
Liberals hate Christmas.

All of a sudden from out of no where, I'm hearing this idea repeated throughout the usual channels.
On NPR Fresh Air this week, GOP big wheel, Mr Vigorie (spelling?) was on about how it was part of the "gay agenda" to get rid of Christmas.

18. Thus far
We have a radical conservative(???) in the White House, the republicans now control the senate and the Congress. They control the media.....so how is it that the liberals are so powerful to outlaw God and Christmas??????

This article is beyond pathetic.

20. i feel like making his fantasies come true
Edited on Fri Dec-17-04 01:19 PM by enki23
come on atheist liberals, let's oppress some fucking christians. yeah, all twelve of us. come on. (we'll leave the jews alone. he just threw that one in there to confuse everyone. especially the liberal jews, who sometimes--with reason--complain about their kids being forced to celebrate christmas.)

so come one, come all. let's do our part this holiday season. let's kick the xtians in the their fat fucking asses. run over a nativity scene (make sure you have plausible "accident" deniability). follow carolers around and scream obscenities. alternatively, follow them around and sing hymns to atheism. i know they don't really exist, but i'm sure we can all make something up. or make like hari krishnas in santa claus hats. whatever you like.

proselytize outside the churches. hand out pamphlets exhorting them to change their wicked ways, and accept the truth of atheism. that would really throw 'em for a fucking loop. help some local highschool students organize an atheists club to meet after school in one of the classrooms. make sure to distribute LOTS of flyers. even if you can't talk any kids into doing it.

and let's burn jesus in effigy. no cross, that would be too KKK. we'll just start with a baby jesus in a manger. that would go up nicely, i think, with the straw and all. we could have mary burning up beside him too, to add an extra kick in the nuts for the devout catholics.

this all actually sounds like a lot of fun. i think my christmas spirit just went up ten, maybe twelve points.

NEEDS TO LOSE HIS JOB. I have friends in Tucson and I plan on forwarding this to them if you don't mind.

No person of such vile substance should be able to influence young minds. He needs to seek help for his hatred, as all it is doing is eating him from within. :grr:

24. Obviously not a very wise teacher.
If he was smart, they would not be flaunting his religion and politics in such a public manner. I think a teacher should appear to be non-biased and non-judgemental. This teacher totally blew it in terms of parent and student perceptions of him.

26. What about Jehovah's Witnesses?
When I was in school, those kids couldn't celebrate Christmas because their religion taught that Christmas itself was a secularization of the spirit of Christ. Wonder if this moron is as pissed at JW's as he at the "PC liberals" intent on destroying his Xmas.
