Can you spot Republicans in a crowd?
I can! Many times, their eyes are closer together than Dems!

What are other ways to spot Republicans?

16. That's about right.
Both the males and the females have their heads firmly lodged right about there.

As far as the rest of the people are concerned, I can't honestly tell. They have to open their mouth first.

With this look on their face, persed lips, marginalizing rhetoric, supervisor authoritarian glasses, poop in their pants, smell attracting flies... an so forth

5. I can't.
I admit it, I can't tell from appearances. I passed a beater redneck truck earlier this week, the guy was wearing a hunting cap, there was a "Militiagan" sticker, and just as I was grimacing, thinking he was a repuke, I saw the "Time for another tea party" letters carefully running across the back of his truck, and a John Kerry sticker.

I didn't talk politics with my neighbors across the street because we get along so well and I was sure they were republicans, but they came over to say they like my Kerry bumper sticker when I first got it.

8. You never can tell!!! All during the campaign, when I would
finish my precinct walking, I often ran errands. Since I would be wearing my Kerry T Shirt and several badges at the time there were no questions as to MY affiliation.

The most surprising folks would sidle up to me and say "I like that shirt, where can I get one".... or catch my eye and give me the big
thumbs up. Or just burst out in a very friendly grin!!!!! Sometimes they would just thank me, for working on the campaign.

People I would have "stereotyped" as far right REp Shrub fans.
Like you, I have been surprised by the apparantly Freeper pickup (I live in the land of the pickup anyway) with Kerry stickers all over it, coming up behind me on the freeway and blowing horns and waving because I have Kerry stickers too.

There is a certain look to some varieties of Pentecostal females, the long hair with no style, no make up, etc. and I would assume they were Republicans more so than others.....even so, I have learned not to judge by looks.

Not to mention that every Saturday morning at County headquarters, every stereotype in the spectrum was represented!!!!! It was beautiful.

10. Huge mean looking vehicles
the only passenger being a little soccer mom peering over the dashboard, lost in her busyness.

I saw a mini-van at a kwik trip yesterday. It had a small angel dangling from the rear view mirror. On the back bumper there was the standard Bush/Cheney that we saw way too many of...and another bumper sticker that said BOYCOTT FRANCE.

So I'm guessing that there really isn't a dichotomy between being spiritual AND mean spirited?

LOL, the boycott must be killing them. I on the other hand have always purchased French products, and now I purchase even more of them (namely perfume, wine, and clothes if possible.)

if it's a white male, there is an 80% chance he's a Repug. So, 4 out of 5 times I'm correct.

Oh, and the previous poster was dead on about the "just so" hair. That's probably the best giveaway of all.

FWIW, How is ragging on how Republicans "look" any different than racist characatures of blacks and other minorities?

appearance, but Republicans could change their politics (and perhaps by extension change the physical manifestations of their politics, too.)

29. Normally I would say that you can't tell
but when I first attended my American Presidency class this semester, this guy came in and sat next to me, and when we exchanged glances, I just knew, and it's pretty clear he knew as well, since our brief conversation pretty much operated on those mutual assumptions.

Eventually he revealed himself to be a freeper, and I informed him that I was a DUer, and our class interactions decidedly deteriorated. We each immediately concluded that the other was insane.

Not just a flag lapel pin, but flag earrings, T-Shirts, often with slogans like "freedom isn't free" or "Kill'em all, let God sort'em out"

35. No, I was very surprised
during the campaign. People I had assumed were *r's* (upscale home, suv's in the driveway) had Kerry and local dem signs in their yards.

On the other hand, others I had judged by appearances as dems, ended up with * stickers on their cars.

Go figure.

36. Generally have slightly out-of-date
hairstyles and clothes. The blow-dried and hair-sprayed look, for both men and women. Usually have an "up tight", over-groomed look in public. American flag lapel pins. These are all stereotypes, and there are some exceptions, but I've noticed that I can usually pick out the repugs on TV even before they are ID'd or open their mouths.
