this was on ABC news so, no link. but, i'm sure it's out there.
=========================
point one: I'm very glad they were able to find this very sick woman and rescue the baby.
period.
but thinking further... since this is a 'nice white pregnant woman butchered' story, it is getting a lot of attention. (the latest Laci?).
so, I start to wonder.... how many people who *think* they're anonymous when they're online are going....
damn! they can find me quick as that. damn!
and, while another white woman is probably the worst case scenerio for sensationalizing this....
I start to wonder... aren't *some* of our fundie pals going to think:
damn! what kind of christian man let's a woman get that out of hand. damn!
dunno. but I feel my ongoing paranoia is necessary for survival these days...

3. Discover Times program on internet privacy |
|
and the part about a Christian man letting a woman get out of hand? Was there some aspect of the report related to that remark?
The media always focuses on stories of young white women, not people of color and usually not men either. Obviously there is nothing new in that regard here, except for the especially gruesome nature of the case.
If you're planning a crime or want privacy in general, don't get on the internet. In this case, authorities doubtless had probably cause for a warrant. For most of us, nobody bothers with a warrant. The Discovery Times channel is running a program about companies buying and selling private information they acquire online. It's produced by Lowell Bergman, who works for "Frontline" and is the man portrayed by Al Pacino in "The Insider." The program is mentioned via a photo link on the front page of today's New York Times.
