1. Northern?
Why, because the repukes have defined them as being "different" in some way, so we should go along with that?

I don't think so.

Plus I have notice lately it seems to be okay to call norherners "elitist" on DU.

There are specific issues that northern Democrats need to be fighting.

Acid Rain, Separtation of chuch and state, red state welfare.

And after reading this article it is clear that the Southern controlled White House and Congress is planning an economic war on the Northerners and Democratic strongholds.

Some Republicans have suggested leaving the minimum tax in place because those hardest hit tend to be in states that did not support Bush, including Massachusetts, California, and New York. ‘‘It is a tax of people living in ‘blue’ states,’’ said Grover Norquist, the conservative activist who heads Americans for Tax Reform.

He said the tax was originally conceived by liberal Democrats as a way of imposing higher taxes mostly on wealthier Republicans, and he suggested that it be used as a bargaining chip by the White House when Bush tries to enact his tax agenda. The minimum tax should be repealed only when Democrats ‘‘say they are sorry and offer to give us something in return,’’ Norquist said.

The 10 states with the highest percentage of people paying the minimum tax all voted for Senator John F. Kerry of Massachusetts for president last month, according to an analysis by Citizens for Tax Justice. But the state with the 11th highest percentage was Ohio, the state that went narrowly for Bush and decided the election.

I don't see how it's okay to have a Southerns group and not okay to have a Northerners group.

3. I think a "southern" group is counterproductive
For the same reasons as the northern group, I don't think it's good to further divide.

Also, I don't understand what they mean by "elite" unless they think wielding a snow shovel is a sign of old-world snobbery.

4. I just don't like how its OK to have southern issues.
And it is elitist for northerns to even think that they have northern issues. And I feel like I need a place to safely go for support when I am attack for being an "elitist" northerner.

5. I think we should splinter the party even more
I'd like to see groups for left handed, red headed New Yorkers and for gay, protestant downstate Alabama women ....... and don't forget those iconoclastic Iowa pipe fitters who believe in the use of teflon tape instead of pipe thread compound.

As for why there's a southern group ..... has anyone noticed how many threads there are banging them over the head?

Please ...... how about some unity?

6. I'm serious about this.
And you can insult my idea all you want. But you haven't convinced me that we can have groups for everything but northerners.
