Or have them or are trying to develop them, are simply pushing others into developing them to protect themselves, take Iran and N. Korea, they are both reported to have nukes, wasn't the reason for building our nuclear arsenal so the numerous nukes we have could be used as a deterrent against attack? I submit that perhaps these country's are hurriedly building them as a deterrent against US attack.
or am I way off base here?

Iran knows they're next.
We need to go in, get control of that oil, and make sure it's traded for in US dollars or the whole gambit fails.

land? Come through Canada? nah
air? Airborn invasion would be out of the question...
sea? They don't have much of a navy and what they do have would be decimated en route.
China could not for years and years overrun this country...period. Hell, they cannot even take Taiwan back...
