Disgusted w/ Repubs- they can't even keep politics out of Christmas cards |
|
One of my biggest pet peeves of the Christmas season is those big long bragathon family newsletters.
Some old neighbors regularly send us a newsletter that is so over the top with every detail of their perfect children's lives, that it has become a family joke. This year's letter's **TOP** story in their family newsletter (complete with PHOTOS) was their attendance at the local Bush campaign rally.
Just what I didn't need to see to start my day.

I'd reply with the message wishing them godspeed during their upcoming tours of duty in Iraq.

5. Respond in kind and you will get removed from their list for sure! |
|
Parody their letter with pictures from a local Kerry rally. Talk about how energized you and your family were to be working to save democracy from BushCo* all year long. Make sure to tell them that there wasn't much time for anything else, as democracy is hanging by a thread due to so many misinformed voters, etc.
Probably won't get a newsletter from them next year that way!

10. How about a card that says "Peace on earth, good will toward man" |
|
with some choice photos of children killed in Iraq, weeping family members of soldiers killed in Iraq, photos of amputees. Then add a small caption stating "these images brought to you courtesy of George W. Bush and his supporters."

11. I like your idea. Perhaps we should start a new tradition for these |
|
people. Instead of a christmas card, how about a New Years Resolution card? Send a card that tells them that you will be committed to work against the administration that cares more about an unborn child than they do about the children that are already here. Include the pictures you suggested and be bold enough to ask them if they care to join you in stopping the genicide.
Sorry to hear about your husband. Hope he is feeling better soon. You will be in my thoughts.

6. My reply: This holiday season I take comfort in knowing that there are |
|
many good citizens who work hard to do God's work here on Earth. Those whose efforts are directed towards nursing the sick, feeding and clothing the poor, and fighting for fairness for a working class being unjustly targeted by ruthless financiers and corporations protected by a ruling class whose tunnel vision brings death, destruction, servitude and poverty to the rest of the world.
We are blessed to have those still willing to fight to preserve a democracy that is quickly being replaced by a theocratic pact with the ruling fascists.

7. Everyone I know who gets those from people, |

ALWAYS feel the same way you do about the one you get. I can't understand why anyone does it. They're always like, "if we cared so much about your daily events we'd probably call each other enough to have already been up on the minutia."

9. My husband has been very ill this year |
|
Some of these wonderful newsletter senders, KNEW of his illness and never so much as bothered to call to see how he was doing. So I really don't give a crap if little Johnny and Susie are each involved in 6 sports and scouting and church youth group and God knows what else.
These folks are also among the first ones to call my hubby for free legal advice. No more free rides.
