Our flabby fascists think that they're clever enough to effectively negate the value of reality. What they don't realize is that they're actually just testing reality, and proving and increasing its value in the process. They're also proving how worthless they are.
They've chosen to turn themselves into objects of ridicule like their vanquished foe - Baghdad Bob.
Now that the totalitarian tits are out in the open, there's no reason to keep giving them the benefit of the doubt. Now it's clear that we're not facing "just another opinion." Now that the world of decent people knows who they are - their lives are ruined. Their movement is ruined. The deception is over.
Of course, they'll attempt to slay reality in a desperate bid to save themselves, but that won't work either; it'll just increase the magnitude of their crime.
They thought they were clever enough to trick us into surrendering centuries of progress. :eyes:

1. I wish I could agree but the repubs I talk to seem delighted, and |
|
are eager for more conquest (Iran, even China!) as long as they personally do not do the bleeding and dying. What makes you feel that "Their movement is ruined. The deception is over." is happening? Thanks.

I think people who are enthusiastically dumb about the forthcoming wars are there. But I also think that there's a sense of desperation around the Republican Party / Conservative Movement. THey know that big changes are coming. That's why they are trying to administer the knock out punch now rather than later (with all this Democrats hate Christmast crap). 3. Let them try more conquest. See what happens. |

My point is that they're out in the open now. Gradually, decent people will stop verifying, patiently debating, and finding other ways to give them the benefit of the doubt. I passed that point a long time ago.
The harder they push, the more resistance they create.
If you take a deception and remove the element of anyone being deceived, what do you have left? One person clearly misleading another. What do you do in that situation, when you find out that you are indeed facing a bad hombre that wants to take advantage of you?

10. I hope you are right, but having "experienced" GWB as governor, |
|
I was sure there was no way he could be elected president, since people could surely see through his cowboy veneer to the shallow evil beneath... After 2003, I was sure folks were seeing through the lies that had killed so many in Iraq, so I had no doubt that he would lose re-election. Sorry to be so cynical. I just don't see what is holding them back from doing anything at this point -- as long as he doesn't cause his corporate masters to lose money, they could care less if he institutes a draft and invades Syria and Iran. And one more "terra-ist" attack here, and I suspect the majority of the public would buy right in. Like I said, sorry to be so cynical, but this is my gut feel on what the next four years is holding for us.

I would rather focus on solutions. I'm pointing out that having no credibility is a real problem for them.
If you think they're "unstoppable," well, then that's that. :hi:

12. Unstoppable? I think they are stoppable, but I thought that |
|
way before, and they are like some Friday-13th villain who keeps coming back to life. What would it take to stop them? Maybe the Chinese, maybe enough economic turmoil at home, maybe the entire rest of the world against us? I don't know. I wish I felt more optimistic.

:hi: Timothy Leary
Add:
This is the concept of reality that interests me here:
"We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality - judiciously, as you will - we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors... and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do." - A senior advisor to Bush, as quoted by Ron Suskind of the New York Times.

7. If I defined life in terms of tits and totalitarian tits, |

I would be asking myself the same question. Fortunately, the "tits" I'm talking about are not nearly as formidable as life itself.

13. My friend voted for Bush |
|
and I sent her the wonderful op-ed from Bob Herbert in the NY Times today in which a Lt. General said that we may have to seriously reconsider reinstating the draft. Jeez, she has a 20 year old college son and she is now regretting her vote.
I would feel badly if her son got shipped off - but not too badly. Now, if my kids get shipped off, I will be besides myself.
"Just a few days earlier, the chief of the Army Reserve, Lt. Gen. James Helmly, told The Dallas Morning News that recruiting was in a "precipitous decline" that, if not reversed, could lead to renewed discussions about reinstatement of the draft." - Bob Herbert, NY Times, 12/20/04

You say:
"Their children have been surrendered."
I respond:
"Give me a nice concrete example of what you're talking about."
You respond:
"The consequences of our misleadership will be felt for decades."
End of discussion. You've added nothing to this thread. Waste someone else's time.

19. and they laugh at liberal utopianism |
|
but one thing they did prove is that they CAN create their own reality. unfortunately, when greed & power are motivating factors, it is more achievable than when peace and prosperity are the goals.
I can almost see how these liberals-turned-neocons turned the corner: both believe they have the ability to change their world. Unfortunately, they took their eyes off the ball & became distopians.
