George Bush is always going on about how he "understands" things.
Then promptly goes about the business of proving he doesn't.

The upside-down-world of George Orwell is upon us.

1. I often wonder if he's trying to convince himself that he understands
He sure isn't convincing me...And if my eight year old can see him on TV and proclaim "That's the president? He sure doesn't look very smart!" I think that's 'nuff said!

4. That's the way it seems to me.
Like he's trying to convince himself.

Trying to jaw-grind it into his brain, while spanking the podium.

6. Sloganeering...Bumper-sticker politics-----I almost puked when he said...
"I understand this, and the American people understand it..."

As though the American people are of one mind, and agree on everything.

3. Yep....
And most of his devout followers seem to think he really does "understand"....and he understands nothing. Ignorance will kill us all.

5. His ignorance is his appeal to many folks
Face it, lots of Americans have a hard time relating to a "smarty pants" for a president

11. smarter, plus more active, and more compassionate
I don't claim to score off the charts in any of those categories -- but it would be very nice if the person in the Oval Office, without having to rely on Andy Card or a mysterious back bulge, were way ahead of me and most other people.

It just worries me that the most powerful leader on the planet is less-informed about many important issues than I am -- and doesn't seem to have a clear idea about how to improve the situation (dropping more bombs doesn't count, W) -- and worse yet, doesn't seem to care.

Corny as it may seem, I'm starting to like Al Gore's statement that dealing with government should be cool -- rather than leaving you feeling confused, frustrated, and dirty.

14. I've been telling all my friends
that we are closer to Orwell's 1984 than any of us can imagine.

Off topic. I love your prayer wheel. I have a necklace that spins around with that prayer written on a tiny piece of paper inside. Every little bit helps, right? :)
