Because I have no respect for this "president". None. Zilch. Zero. I see an empty suit carrying a shitload of arrogance and ignorance that has the capacity to destroy the friggin' world. And the press bows down to him. I will never respect such a person.

1. Nope.
Can't threaten him, even in jest. Can't hurt him (or anyone else, legally).

That's about it. Disrespect all you want.

Lets start accusing them of treason for everything they said about Clinton in the 90s.

Seriously. I am not being sarcastic.

I mean it.

5. Depends on what you mean by law
You probably won't get locked up, but you shouldn't open any mail, fly in small aircraft, or sit around your house alone if you do.

6. You must be psychic
I was just thinking about this and how that "law" did not seem to apply to the presidency during the Clinton administration. Only now do we hear the outrage over disrespect for the president...hmmm. The current office holder has done nothing to earn my respect.

10. There is a lot of misunderstanding about this law...
THREATS AGAINST PRESIDENT - 18 USC 871, makes it a Federal crime or offense for anyone to willfully make a true threat to injure or kill the President of the United States.

A person can be found guilty of that offense only if all of the following facts are proved beyond a reasonable doubt:

First: That the person uttered words alleged to be the threat against the President;

Second: That the person understood and meant the words he used as a TRUE THREAT; and

Third: That the person uttered the words knowingly and willfully.

The courts have ruled that the "true threat" threshhold is not met if it is satire, humurous in nature, or obviously not meant as an actual threat. You can say you wish the MF was dead. You can even say you would like to do it, but it is here that you start getting close to danger because of that "true threat" interpretation.

This is not to say that the feds won't hassle and destroy for exercising your free speech rights, but a conviction is much harder to get.

11. i had a dream about this
i was at a * news conference and i got to ask him a question...

i addressed him as "mr. bush" and he got all huffy with me and demanded that i respect him and his office and call him "mr. president"

so i replied, "pardon me sir, but i call you mr. bush out of nothing BUT respect for your office"

sigh...if only it wasn't just a dream...
