Would you rent a house to Jenna Bush?
Edited on Mon Dec-20-04 10:07 PM by mondohondo
I hope this isn't a dupe. There is a story going around that the Paris Bureau chief of the New York Times refused to rent his house in a fashionable neighborhood of Washington D.C. to Jenna Bush and a group of her friends because he was afraid that:

1. Jenna and company would trash the place during wild parties; and
2. The Secret Service surveilance would be too intrusive.

Has anyone else heard about this story? Supposedly it appeared in the New York Daily News.

Any way to chip away at the family fortune.

21. It would be harder on you than her.
With all of the legal complications of the eviction process, it would be far easier on you if you just told her no in the first place.

She would trash the place with wild parties, and then I would sell my story to the tabloids!

8. It would depend on the house ...

If I did, there'd be a huge, up-front, non-refundable deposit required.

But, if the house was in an upscale neighborhood with high property values, most likely no. Her presence would drive down property values tremendously, or at the very least irritate the neighboring property owners.

Of course it'd be the same with pretty much any celebrity. These people live in secluded areas, apartments with a high level of security, and "communities" of celebrities for more reasons than their own personal privacy. The draw of reporters and other lookie-loos make the place a living hell for anyone else to live.

And, no, I haven't heard this story.

14. Bullshit! Look at the family history.
AWOL George rented a house in Montgomery, Alabama, that was so totally trashed when he left that the landlord lost thousands. They weren't about to sue him because of his obvious "protected status."

15. Well, not without first, last ..
and not without a hefty security deposit.

Now would I "do her" like a $20.00 hooker in the backseat of a car, Ya... but I'm old & my standards have dropped somewhat.

On the condition that I don't have to clean up the place, I might rent it to her. For a shitload of money.

If people in red states can refuse, so can the blue staters...maybe she needs to have the door slammed close on her a few more times just to get the point across??

Except for one small town, no Oklahoma municipality has joined the hundreds of cities and towns nationwide that have expanded anti-discrimination laws to cover sexual orientation. "We'll never go there," Mr. Williamson said. "If a Christian couple here in Oklahoma doesn't want to rent property to openly in-your-face homosexuals, they should have a right to do that.

25. Am I missing something here?
Miss Trust Fund is renting a house? Can't * and Pickles pony up to buy something during the duration? Hell, if they can't afford it, I'm sure that Poppy and Bar could help out in a pinch.

If the Paris bureau chief refused to rent to them, good for him. Hmmm, let me see: Barely out of college, doesn't really have gainful employment, has quite a reputation. I wouldn't rent to her, either.
